Athletics: Varsity sports at FSU are great across all sports. The entire campus is extremely involved in Varsity sports. The Campus Rec program does a great job with Intramural Sports and Sports Clubs.

3 College Senior

Computers: The Computer Labs are usually packed, but the WiFi is reliable for those students with their own computers.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are plenty of options to choose from and if you are a traditional college student, the college does a great job of helping you find housing. For me, I had a bit of extra challenge because I need housing for my husband and my baby. They have one school-sponsored area dedicated to grad students and students that are married or moving in with families, but they are closing it due to high costs and low demand. I'm kind of sad but at least the community has many services to help accommodate for this.

Athletics: Varsity sports and sports in general play a huge role in campus. Nearly one third of the campus is dedicated to every sport from tennis to football to swimming. There is a lot of school spirit even outside of the season as you can see by the number of people who wear the school's logos. Even off campus, it's rare not to find at least three people who aren't showing their support for the school.

4 College Junior

Academics: There are plenty of research opportunities and we have our own college dedicated to psychology. We have 5 floors of classroom, offices for our professors, and plenty of meeting rooms. For the most part our professors and even out TAs are available to meet with students and we even have our own computer lab that features many of the programs we use in class. Professors are understanding if personal circumstances and try their best to accommodate each student's needs

Off-Campus Housing: It is very easy to find an afforadable off campus apartment. However, it is not as easy to find a safe, luxury, affordable apartment that is anywhere close to FSU campus. I would suggest living on campus your first year, and then moving in a place that is reasonable In price, location, and luxury. You will have lots of options whatever you choose!

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Campus is pretty fairly strict on drinking and drug use. Especially If you live on campus! Be careful

5 College Senior

Athletics: Florida State has the biggest history, and involvement I could of imagined! There is always a sporting event to talk about or attend. Not to mention, they're so crowded but it's pretty easy to get a student ticket. Sports rule a lot of FSU, and you always have an opportunity to get involved at any level.

3 College Senior

Transportation: Buses are pretty timely. And trackable. But, every now and then they're completely off schedule.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The campus police are all nice and there when you need them, but in my experience no one is too nosy. It's relatively easy to get away with activities not allowed on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I got some money from FSU but the majority was from other outside donors.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Free bus system around and on campus for students.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: We have some, but could use more places to eat on campus. I feel like there isn't enough to choose from

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is big. You will not be able to walk ten steps without seeing someone sporting their greek letters on their bag, hat, etc.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: FSU's football team is amazing. Doak Campbell Stadium is always packed with 'Noles partaking in the Tomahawk Chop, especially in big games (such as against the Gators or the Canes).

4 College Senior

Transportation: Buses are constantly going on or off campus, and there is plenty of bus stops on campus. They even have an app where you can see when the next is bus so you know when just to catch it in time instead of not knowing. Also they have many different bus routes and sometimes more than one bus can run through main streets so you have many opportunities to get there even sooner.

Greek Life: While Greek life is important to some, the main form of unity that all students are bound by is that we are all studying at FSU

Drug Safety: FSU has a big campus where you can make plenty of friends that are not involved with drugs or alcohol! While substances can be found, as at every college, you can make the decision to not be around it.

5 College Junior

Weather: The weather of FSU is just as anyone would imagine: immaculate.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The sports at this school are great & all the students really support the teams.

5 College Junior

Weather: Especially nice in the winter months Nov-Mar temps are 60's, summer hot as expected after all you are in FL.

5 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Football games are big, outside the school Tallahassee is a nice town reasonably close by, buses available. Better if you have a car but only use the car off campus. Lots of stores nearby.

3 College Junior

Parking: Difficult as is at most colleges, would recommend leaving the car at home if possible.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: Weather in Tallahassee is great, especially October to April. The fall and spring are beautiful with lots of flowers on campus. The summer is hot (it is Florida after all) and having an umbrella for pop up thunderstorms is smart. The winter is mild although a light jacket is needed most mornings.

2 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: I don't live on campus, so I can't contribute to anything about housing. Academically, plagiarism and cheating is taken very seriously, and many teachers will enforce this rule.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
