Majors: I had to audition in order to get into the music program. It was not very difficult.

5 College Junior

Academics: Great Professors and great retail merchandising program with exceptional faculty and staff teaching us.

Parking: Parking is one of the few things I detest about FSU campus. I appreciate that they have built more parking garages since the last time I attended, but it hasn't seemed to do anything to alleviate the problem. If you have classes near the Union, forget about finding parking in the Woodward garage or scant surrounding lots past 8am. I would advise you to be prepared to own a bike, live on campus, be ok with parking far out and walking, or using the campus bus schedule. Don't rely on having a car and your life will be easier.

Off-Campus Housing: There is a lot of variety as far as off-campus housing goes in Tallahassee, if I were to do it again, I would try to rent a house out near campus and rent out parking spots for gameday weekends (people will pay like 20$ to park). Only thing to be aware of is safety of the area you are looking at!

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: The school is fairly strict here but if you follow the rules then you don't have to worry about getting in trouble. If you know you are going to break a rule be discreet about it and don't make it very public as people can turn you in or report you if you are too loud and such...

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of girls at FSU. A lot of greeks, too. But you don´t have to be involved with greek life in order to have fun. There are clubs for anything and everything, like ultimate Frisbee, Quidditch, etc. A lot of people get into IM sports.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The whole campus is brick, so it´s absolutely beautiful. There is a bit on construction going on right now, but the improvements will be amazing. The new William-Johnston Building just opened, with the ACE free tutoring zone in the basement--I have never seen a cooler looking building. Hogwarts on the outside, but state-of-the-art technology and mod interior design on the inside.

3 College Junior

Transportation: The buses at FSU are generally reliable, though they tend to arrive at least 3 minutes later than the schedule actually says. They also have a new iPhone app you can download to see when a particular bus will make a stop close to where you are.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There are endless possibilities for where you can live off- campus. Some of these options are very convenient as they are walking distance from campus. Even more so, there are bus systems close to most off- campus residences which offer transportation to school. Very convenient!

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Used to give grants for mathematics and sciences etc. but the past few years only loans have been offered to me. The Office of Financial Aid is pretty helpful and will help you with different options for financial aid.

3 College Junior

Transportation: There are a ton of buses. Don't trust the schedule. But, they come frequently enough and go pretty far from campus.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Nothing interferes with my social life as far as campus strictness. Just, don't park in the wrong place, they will find you and give you a ticket.

2 College Junior

Campus Housing: competitive to get good dorms. Bad dorms are really bad. small and uncomfortable

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: not that many options but the options they do have are good

Transportation: For an in-state student it's pretty ideal, there are a lot of kids going home on the weekends and doing car shuttles to major cities in Florida but the location of the airport and the pricing of flights can make transportation home difficult for out-of-state students. Transportation around campus and downtown Tallahassee is pretty good.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather is great almost year round, save for Jan-early March when it does get cold. You will need a jacket then.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: Lots of access to computers and computer labs on campus, most of them during the week go to either midnight or 1 am and the main library is 24/5 but printing does get expensive.

Off-Campus Housing: I live off campus at Alumni village. Although, opinions vary per student, as an international student, I have seen both good and bad. This is my opinion.
Pros:
Perfect for students with wife and kids. they have a variety of apartments.
Have cooking classes, gardening classes, etc for both students and their non working spouses.
Much cheaper than other houses outside campus. No lease. you just pay every month.
Bus services that take us directly to campus, and you do not have to pay for it.
Have SAFE connection that bring people back home at night from the campus, as late as 3:00am. leaves you at your doorstep.
No issues with parking whatsoever.
Cons:
No shops nearby.
Some people had safety issues, but in my case, I have never gone through anything bad, although I am a single girl living by myself.
Houses are a bit old and needs constant maintenance.

3 College Junior

Parking: Although parking can be bad during class time, valet parking lots are available. You have options to either get on campus early for parking, pay for valet parking, or park at a parking lot away from your class and then take a shuttle bus to travel in campus.

Greek Life: Greeks life is huge on campus at FSU. I am not in a sorority or fraternity but I have lots of friends in them and nothing but positive words come from their mouths. Non-greeks view Greeks are equals. We are one big family at FSU. Greek housing is available in their sorority or fraternity houses on or around campus.

Facilities: Beautiful view. Friendly staff, student gym, large classrooms

4 College Junior

Facilities: Because I'm at the branch campus it's a small campus. We get more one on one instruction. and we have a waterfront view that can't be beat

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus we have many dining options for students within about a 5- 10 minute drive

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Clean, laid back, full of natural beauty and history.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: FSU has been notorious for their lack of parking spaces for over 20 years! If you are not onn campus by 7:45, you will not get a parking space for the rest of the day. Luckily, the buses to campus are frequent and highlyy recommended.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
