Transportation: The campus bus is very useful and have many routes and stops. However it stops at 7 which can be inconvenient but there is a night nole at FSU so that you don't wander alone.

Health & Safety: My first year here I never felt unsafe, I get notifications that there were some robberies. That is only if you walk alone at night, which I don't do.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It is very strict. If you get in trouble you're usually sent to student conduct trial.

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of options close to campus. You have local restaurants as well as fast food chain restaurants.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are tons of great local places around such as Momo's (pizza), Mr. Robotos (Chinese), Bella Bella (Italian), and so many more. They also have chain restaurants such as Chipotle, Chikfila, etc.

Athletics: Everyone on campus loves sports. Many student football tickets are sold out by the game and everyone is involved. All sports have a crowd, they are not always equal, but there is never not a crowd!

Computers: The overwhelming majority of students have their own laptops, but the computers at FSU are usually Macs. Some subjects, like math, require online testing where students take their tests on Macintosh computers. the computers in the libraries are usually open unless it's close to midterms and good luck finding one during finals. I would definitely recommend bringing your own laptop based on convenience alone.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great for freshman students coming into their first year of college. Although it's a bit more expensive than living off campus, the convenience of living on campus (proximity to classes, the gym, the union, sports complexes, cafeterias etc.) makes up for it. Some dorms like Kellum and Sally are a lot older than others like Wildwood, but honestly dorms are just a place to sleep and interact with other students. I would recommend dorm life to all incoming freshman.

Local Atmosphere: Tallahassee is a beautiful city. As the state's capital, it is certainly different from the rest of Florida. The winters actually get pretty cold! Not to mention Tallahassee has the most hills I've ever seen in Florida. There is nothing better than going to a FSU football game during fall with 80,000 people shouting the warchant. The nightlife is great and the community is like one giant family. Go Noles.

Weather: I moved to Florida expecting warm, humid weather almost year round...Tallahassee had a surprise in store for me. It is most definitely the OTHER Florida. You will experience colder weather from about late October to early April. It can be anywhere from beautiful 70 degrees to 40 degrees in the mornings. Be prepared to wear a jacket going out on weekend nights and LOTS of rain. This past year involved a lot of treading through puddles on my way to classes.

Diversity: Living in Tallahassee has provided me with a completely different experience than my hometown. I see a wide range of ethnicity on campus. Take for instance, "Market Wednesdays." This is a day that a lot of the African American fraternities and sororities come out and perform in the union. There are plenty of organizations available for various groups of people. Hispanic Latino Union, Black Student Union, and Women interest groups are just a few of these. I also feel as though FSU students are very accepting of different sexualities and religions.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Sinec the FSU polica are real cops, the response time to a problem is very fast and effective.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Very accomadaticve, but pricey as always. Although many options are available

5 College Sophomore

Academics: I love how helpful the teachers are and I actually feel like I'm being prepared for the "real world"

3 College Sophomore

Parking: There is no parking after 9 am in the main campus parking lots and garages

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Florida State offers a diversity of student's looks. This is a greek school so there are many students that dress nicely. Social life consist of lots of school activities, bars, greek life, Tallahassee event, and more!

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: While it is by far better to live on-campus your first year of college, the dorm situation is fairly poor unless you live in a non-community style dorm. The big problem with this is that all of the nice dorms with private bathrooms require meal plans, which are a completely not worth the money. The cleanliness in the community style dorms is bad and it can be easier to get sick in them, however there is a greater sense of community and you will actually make friends with your neighbors.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There are quite a few International students at FSU, much of the student body comes from Miami and south Florida where there is a lot of diversity, so naturally there are all different types that end up coming to FSU. For this reason it is difficult for the students of FSU to be anything but accepting of other beleifs and backgrounds. In most cases it is warmly welcomed.

Transportation: The best way to get around is walking, especially in the Fall and Spring. Biking is okay for the summer but not the regular school year. The bus system can be a bit confusing but it is pretty useful. Be careful with the city buses, they have strange hours.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: It can be a hassle to find parking on campus. You will find it, however, sometimes it won't be where you want it to be. As for parking in the wrong places, the police will be there to enforce it.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: All the restrictions set in the school are to make it better for our experience. We are not there to have parties and get drunk every day. It is for that reason that our police force is there to bust obnoxious people's parties and get together to do drugs.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: The food is great around campus. There are many types of food, like Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Italian. The only problem is getting to the restaurants. Sometimes it is tricky to find how to use the buses to get there.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: The transportation is really easy to use. Also, it is paid in your tuition so you don't have to worry about paying the buses every time you want to use it. They run early through late in the evening so you can always catch them before and after classes.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Housing at FSU is an experience. The buildings are very old and some of the old buildings can be unappealing. However, it really doesn't make that much of a difference. In fact, living on campus is very convienient. I'd prefer to live on campus even if I had to live in an old dorm. The housing staff is helpful and friendly. The dorms most freshmen get are Kellum and Smith. They aren't the best on campus, but they are still convienient and give a great freshmen experience.

Transportation: we can take a bus to get around campus. at night we have a safe van that helps us get to our on campus dorms up till 3:00 AM. We can swipe our card to get on the city bus, so we do not have to pay for it in cash. However, we have to wit for long for the bus to arrive.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee.
