Off-Campus Housing: It depends on how much you're willing to pay, how far you're willing to drive, and what you're use to.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: The campus buses take you all over campus as well as to the store and mostly all off campus apartments.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: The buses are always there when you need the. All you need is your fsu id.

Majors: I am in the process of applying for an international internship in London as an art history major. My advisor and the people in the international programs office have been very helpful in pointing my in the right direction for deadlines, applications, and scholarships. The faculty and staff here at FSU want you to succeed and will help you in any way that they can.

Guys & Girls: Florida State is filled with all kinds of people. Sure, there are southern bells and classic frat boys, but there are also people who have a very vintage style, there are hipsters, musicians, and artists. People dress to be comfortable - you'll see some girls in sundresses and others in gym shorts and t-shirts. Since FSU is so big, it is not hard to find a group of people you fit in with. I am from New Jersey but I found it very easy to fit in down here, even though some people thought I might experience culture shock.

Diversity: The spring of 2013 was my first semester here at Florida State University. I give this campus an A for diversity. Since being here, I have met so many people from different cultures and backgrounds. I now have friends from Jamaica. The school I attended before FSU only had about 1,500 students and there was little to no diversity. At FSU, students are exposed to so many different backgrounds and cultures and these cultures are celebrated through different cultural events held throughout the year.

Weather: The weather at FSU is hot and humid! There is also a lot of rain in the afternoons, which can be annoying. But the weather is usually like beach weather.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is a WIDE diversity of people at FSU. This includes people of different minorities, economic backgrounds, and all the others above. The only downside about having international students is that most of them end of teaching a class. Therefore it is hard to understand and communicate with them, which is frustrating.

Campus Strictness: The strictness at my school is moderately lenient. Police do their best to enforce the rules. However, there is only so much that they can do to protect the students. As long as students are not obnoxious, then the police will let you go.

2 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drugs do not seem to be an issue at FSU. However, drinking is much more common. Considering there are many clubs around Tallahassee, the majority of students are big into alcohol.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Tallahassee is an amazing city with a lot to do. We have the State Capital, museums, and many more.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The campus police are on top of things and get things done. Implications are met if someone doesn't cooperate as well.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: The sports teams at The Florida State University is outstanding. The school spirit is as well. We have amazing facilities, staff, as well as academic advisers. IM sports are huge as well. many of the Athletes have gone on to join the Olympics and more.

Computers: FSU has many excellent computer labs, relatively cheap printing, a fast and reliable network, and good internet access most everywhere.

Weather: The weather in Tallahassee is pretty good. It rains a lot, but other than that, because it's Florida, there's no snow or anything too troublesome. It did hail once though!

3 College Senior

Scholarships: I have not been able to find really any scholarships at Florida State that I was eligible for. However, the Undergraduate research center seems to give out a lot of grants, and I am working toward applying for one.

2 College Senior

Parking: Parking at Florida State is the worst!!! You can virtually never find a spot unless you leave at 8am and then only sometimes. There is one lot that does seem to have spots during the day, but it's kind of out of the way. In general, I always bike.

2 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Tallahassee has alright off-campus housing. For example, my apartment is very close to campus and university transportation, yet it's pricey and the landlady is awful. The safety in Tallahassee really isn't that great either; I have a friend who was robbed twice in one apartment.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The campus bus is very useful and have many routes and stops. However it stops at 7 which can be inconvenient but there is a night nole at FSU so that you don't wander alone.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: My first year here I never felt unsafe, I get notifications that there were some robberies. That is only if you walk alone at night, which I don't do.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It is very strict. If you get in trouble you're usually sent to student conduct trial.

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of options close to campus. You have local restaurants as well as fast food chain restaurants.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are tons of great local places around such as Momo's (pizza), Mr. Robotos (Chinese), Bella Bella (Italian), and so many more. They also have chain restaurants such as Chipotle, Chikfila, etc.

Athletics: Everyone on campus loves sports. Many student football tickets are sold out by the game and everyone is involved. All sports have a crowd, they are not always equal, but there is never not a crowd!

4 College Freshman

Computers: The overwhelming majority of students have their own laptops, but the computers at FSU are usually Macs. Some subjects, like math, require online testing where students take their tests on Macintosh computers. the computers in the libraries are usually open unless it's close to midterms and good luck finding one during finals. I would definitely recommend bringing your own laptop based on convenience alone.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
