Parking: Although parking can be bad during class time, valet parking lots are available. You have options to either get on campus early for parking, pay for valet parking, or park at a parking lot away from your class and then take a shuttle bus to travel in campus.

Greek Life: Greeks life is huge on campus at FSU. I am not in a sorority or fraternity but I have lots of friends in them and nothing but positive words come from their mouths. Non-greeks view Greeks are equals. We are one big family at FSU. Greek housing is available in their sorority or fraternity houses on or around campus.

Facilities: Beautiful view. Friendly staff, student gym, large classrooms

Facilities: Because I'm at the branch campus it's a small campus. We get more one on one instruction. and we have a waterfront view that can't be beat

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus we have many dining options for students within about a 5- 10 minute drive

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Clean, laid back, full of natural beauty and history.

Parking: FSU has been notorious for their lack of parking spaces for over 20 years! If you are not onn campus by 7:45, you will not get a parking space for the rest of the day. Luckily, the buses to campus are frequent and highlyy recommended.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: The diversity on campus is good, there's actually even a program to help admit people of minority groups called C.A.R.E.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: Public transportation is really good at FSU. They have campus buses that are running all day around campus and to student housing off campus. There's also the city buses that are free with your student ID card.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There are many options outside of FSU's campus that come in a wide variety of types of cuisine.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Tallahassee is a really great college town. There are definitely things to do around town.

Majors: The psychology department is really great. There are a lot of different programs and opportunities, such as studying abroad.

5 College Freshman

Academics: The psychology department is really great with really interesting professors and courses.

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of options in terms of apartments and houses for rent. A lot of people tend to split rooms 3 or 4 ways depending on costs which tend to be anywhere from $350-$700 per person a month. There are a lot of luxury apartments being built as of lately. But it all depends on your budget and available resources.

Parking: I don't drive or have a car, but there are buses that go all around campus and are super convenient. There is even an app that you can get for your phone that tracks the bus so you know what bus is coming and when. Parking can be an absolute nightmare if you drive to campus, especially in the first few weeks of class. If you drive, plan on getting to campus early to ensure a spot. There is an app for parking garages that tells you when they're full and how full they are.

Campus Housing: It's a hit or a miss with dorms. Some are very nice, but some are absolutely horrible. My roommate said her dorm the other year had a severe case of mold. Degraff is the best and Sally is probably the worst.

Weather: Sometimes classes are far away from where you are, so if it rains then you're out of luck. Classes can be canceled if a bad enough hurricane rolls in. It has to be a pretty bad storm, though. It never snows here, so you don't have to worry about that.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: There are areas that are designated for those who are 21 and up but there are also areas that are for those who are 18 and up. The clubs can be a lot of fun, theres generally good music and a lot of fun dancing and there are occasionally famous musicians who come here. The parties are a lot of fun though because Greek life is a big deal on campus. There is always somewhere to go and something to do.

5 College Freshman

Athletics: Varsity sports at Florida State are a really big deal, especially the football games. Students get decked out in crazy FSU attire and spend hours cheering on the team. They are a lot of fun.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I am very happy with my decision to declare Communication Science and Disorders as my major. The application process was easy but very competitive to get into. My career goal is to become a speech language pathologist.

3 College Freshman

Parking: The parking permit is free which is very convenient and helpful, but there is limited parking on campus when classes are in session and it can take a long time to find a spot sometimes.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I found the application process for my major of Communication Science and Disorders very easy to follow. The application was primarily based on GPA.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: I've always felt safe on campus. The campus is lit pretty well at night and there are safety buttons to push if you feel uncomfortable. There are safe vans that will drive you around on campus if you are really that worried about it.

3 College Senior

Parking: They recently added a new garage but its far away from everything. It also seems as if they are steadily decreasing the amount of student spots available each year. If you are willing to wait, you will almost always get a spot.

3 College Junior

Weather: It rains a lot in Tallahassee in the summer and the winter months are really cold but it doesn't snow.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
