Overall Experience: This school has proved to be the best experience.

Campus Strictness: Everybody drinks and stumbles home drunk and the cops don't do anything about it unless you're causing a scene.

Weather: Rainy during summer and early fall, then cools down and can get quite chilly in late fall winter

Parking: In campus parking permits are totally free for students, you just have to sign up to get one. Parking enforcement is strict- but you'll never find somebody in a spot you need who doesn't belong there. Most staff parking lots open up to students after 4:30, 5, or 5:30 pm (depending on the lot). Spots fill up quickly in the morning and finding a spot can be difficult if you go to campus midday. Even the parking garages fill up.

Drug Safety: I haven't seen anybody doing drugs or encountered any over the top policies about drug use. There are a lot of bars in Tallahassee, so drinking is pretty visible in the area, but there doesn't seem to be a huge presence on campus.

Weather: In general, the weather's pretty nice. It rains sometimes, and sometimes for days and days, but most of the time it's nice out and sunny. The summers get hot. The fall and spring days tend to be chilly (~45) in the morning, but even in November it's still in the mid 70s midday.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are a lot of places to eat on campus, but I prefer to cook, so I haven't eaten on campus yet. There are several restaurants on campus, as well.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: In general, the facilities are awesome. There's lots of green space on campus, the athletic center has loads of programs & machines. The student center is great. The libraries have had everything I've needed so far, and there's an easy-to-use interlibrary loan system.

Campus Strictness: It depends on what you're talking about. Don't ever, ever park where you're not supposed to park. But other than that, it's a big university, you can pretty much do what you want as long as you're not harming anybody & not in a super obvious location.

Academics: So far, the professors have been good. Most of them are really interested in what they're teaching, though some of the intro courses are more 'well, somebody had to teach it'... Registration is online and was painless. Workload has been easy so far.

Academics: I'm a graduate student, so I don't know how true these things are for undergrads in Industrial, but the workload's been fine, the curriculum is mostly interesting, and the lab space is great. I don't know about internship opportunities because I'm not looking for any, but two professors have asked me if I want to TA for them next semester.

College Freshman

Majors: I have not held an internship while I've been at FSU.

4 College Freshman

Majors: My program is great. The faculty are willing to help you if you need it, the administration folks have helped me solve the problems I've encountered with singing up for classes and assistantship things.

Diversity: There are people from all over (though I'm a graduate student, so I don't know what the undergraduate diversity is like as much). There are people from all sorts of races, and social clubs for people from all sorts of places. It's a giant university, so there's sort of necessarily diversity. I haven't seen anything about problems with acceptance of people, so I assume that it's pretty okay here.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
