Computers: WIRELESS - cuts out every 5-10 mins or so.

Health & Safety: There are blue-light posts all over campus, and if you ever feel in trouble, you can press the button on it, and FSUPD will respond. If they do not hear a response back from you, they will arrive at the scene. If you are being chased, you can run and press the buttons on posts as you go...PD can then track you, see where you are headed, and hopefully meet you to stop the offender.

Guys & Girls: Hottest girls (apparently) & good-looking guys.

Weather: Can be sunny all day, then storm out of nowhere.

Scholarships: I believe the financial aid process anywhere is probably a hassle, but if you're willing to put in the time and effort for it, you can probably receive most of what you need.

Facilities: WE HAVE A CIRCUS. Enough said, really. There are only two in the nation (Illinois State is the other), but we are the only ones to have our very own big top tent with completely student-run shows. You cannot major in circus, but there is one class you can take (without actually being in the circus) for PE credit. Auditions to perform run every September, and there are over 150 students in the cast each year. The circus is a big hit on campus, and it's definitely something you cannot miss you on while you're here, even if it's only for a visit. If you can't make it in Tallahassee, you can even watch the FSU circus perform small-scale shows at Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA every summer.

Facilities: It is a beautiful campus, with lots of scenery. There are always people lounging out on Landis Green, or hanging out at one of our famous libraries, "Club Stroz" (which, in fact, has the only double-sided Starbucks in the country). There is always a green spot to sit at, always a tree to stand under (or climb), and always a bench to lay on.

Transportation: Buses are free to students (well, it's still paid for in your "transportation fee" through tuition, of course), and most of them will go off campus as well. A perk is that the city buses are also free with your ID...so you could take a bus out to the mall, to a park, or to the airport if needed.

Overall Experience: I have done more things at FSU than I ever thought I would do, including joining the circus. This school has changed me as a person and there are options for literally anything you want to do. I feel very free, safe, and happy at my school.

Campus Dining: The meal plans have definitely gotten better since I started here. You can now use them to get meals at Subway, Chick-fil-A, and other places on campus. The prices still suck though, considering most of us are still "broke college students".

College Freshman

Majors: I don't know much about internship opportunities here.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I love the psychology program! There are so many opportunities to get involved here! I plan to go to grad school after graduation, so I'm not worried about getting a job. You really have to go to grad school if you want a good job in psychology, though.

Off-Campus Dining: I feel like food around here would be the same as most other places. There are of course, the typical fast food joints, and then there are pizza places, sushi places (Mr. Robotos is the best, by far!), gourmet hot dog and cupcake places (Voodoo Dog, Lucy & Leo's), and your late-night options (Guthrie's, Whataburger, etc). If you go about 10 minutes off campus territory, you'll find more local eateries to please your palate.

Campus Strictness: I am not a rule breaker, so I have no problem with the school's policies.

Off-Campus Housing: I do not live off-campus, so I cannot accurately judge or rate this.

3 College Freshman

Academics: My teachers this semester were all amazing, and I learned a lot. However, I've heard that some of the teachers here really suck.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The psychology major is pretty easy. The classes aren't hard, and you don't need a whole lot of credit hours. There are lots of opportunities to get experience, whether it be an internship, working in a research lab, or volunteering around Tallahassee.

Diversity: You can find almost any type of person here, and students are generally accepting. Of course, there are some stigmas about the neighboring FAMU, but most people I know (myself included) have friends that go to school there.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: It took me almost two months to get my aid, and lots of my friends had the same problem.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus, so I don't know much about off-campus housing.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: If you are a Resident Assistant (RA) on campus, and you have been found drinking, you will be fired promptly. They hold their student leaders to high standards, and if you can't be a good role model, they'll find someone else!

Campus Dining: Dining hall food can be pretty cruddy at times, and meal plans are pretty expensive. I would recommend buying and preparing your own food if you have time.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Sometimes the wifi really sucks, so be prepared for outages.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Not too hard to get away with drinking here. Seems like drugs and alcohol can be obtained pretty easily.

Campus Housing: The dorm I live in is really nice, but I've heard horror stories about some of the other ones.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
