3 College Sophomore

Facilities: Awesome football team! Good diversity in activities, good perks in being a student with transportation, the gym etc.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: Computer Use – Reliable and usefull. Need to be cleaned more often.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus Safety – Campus police are have been a godsend for me on many occassions, and there are many emergency contact poles on campus that will come in handy if need be. With all of this though, there are still many crimes that are happening frequently so I would not feel safe walking alone at night on campus. All in all, fsu has taken good measures towards security but it will take time to make adequate progress.

Weather: Not Used to Winter – I am from Orlando so I am not used to the winter being as cold as it was this year in Tallahassee. However, it did push me to stay in and study more, and other than the colder winters, the weather is generally the same as Orlando.

Diversity: Many Differences – Florida State is a very diverse school. There are all sorts of people. There are those who struggle just to pay for their tuition, and those who drive around in Mercedes and BMWs. There are southern people, northern people, people of all racial backgrounds. Athletic people, studious people, party animals, religious leaders, all are found at FSU.

Off-Campus Housing: Generally, the closer you get to campus the more expensive the housing is. Still, housing in Tallahassee is more fairly priced than that in Gainesville or Orlando. Many complexes have bus stops at the front transporting students to FSU. Some places are safer than other, really just depends on the specific complex.

Overall Experience: I feel i made an amazing decision on where to attend college. I love FSU and i love tallahassee, i strongly reccomend this university to any incoming freshman.

2 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking on campus is rough you really need to know good hidden parking lots because the main garages get filled up so quickly.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There is plenty of housing off campus. From apartments to town homes and even single family homes. a lot of great locations close to campus and a great bus system.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Paradise in Northern Florida – Tallahassee is very student friendly. A large depedence on the student population makes for an interesting competition within the business sector. The students win because business owners are tripping over each other to get to the student. Consequently there are many things to do in the way of events, attractions, activities, and recreation. The strategic location of FSU is also nice for weekend get-aways to the gulf, the ocean, Georgia, or Alabama.

3 College Student

Campus Strictness: Not Very Strict – Ive been to many a parties and maybe about 10-15% got broken up. The cops dont care about open drunkeness theyll just tell you to go home but i havent seen anyone arrested.

3 College Student

Drug Safety: Just About the Same – I personally do not deal with drugs but know many who do. It seems to be just the same here as anywhere, judging from talking to other friends at different schools. But its not barren. If you want to get your fix, you can.

4 College Student

Guys & Girls: Pretty Girls Everywhere – Mostly South Florida & Tampa area students. You do meet your good mix of out of staters too. The girls are pretty everywhere and most are down to earth and love to go out and have fun.

3 College Freshman

Weather: I Hate the Rain – rain happens a lot in Florida and it just makes huge puddles on campus.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: Buss Is Awesome – the bus can take you around campus in a very short amount of time, with the campus route coming every 10 mins and then other buses also circling school, you should never be late to class or not have transportation.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Strong and Accessible – you can access any computer with your fsu id and there are thousands of them around campus to help students.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I Am GDI – Every day I get asked if I am in a sorority. I am not, and people in the Greek life call me a God damn independent (GDI)

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: I Love AJ's – I like house parties with my friends the best, but there are places to go dancing with the girls. I love AJ's.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: I am not very into sports, but I do love going to the baseball games.

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Fun in Fountains – Florida State University's Westcott Fountain is the most photographed site on campus. All of the fountains here are also considered to be pools, so you may swim in them all year round. It is tradition to be thrown in on your birthday.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: All Are Welcome – There are over 500 student run organizations on Florida State's campus, all of which are diverse. Everybody will be able to find where they fit in the most. There is no excuse not to get involved because if you don't like any of the 500 organizations, you are more than welcome to start your own. It is actually encouraged.

5 College Freshman

Academics: A Great Education – As an Undergraduate, I have been in courses that everybody has to take. All of them have been great so far. Registration is easy, especially if you're in the honors program. Florida State offers plenty of fun, relevant courses and the professors here are nothing short of excellent. In my first year, I was already able to get recommendations.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: East campus is where it's at. It is a more beautiful part of campus and closer to many of the classes underclassmen take. Many of the housing on the west side is run down and in need of repair.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Go to the Mall – There are two malls in Tallahassee. If you are looking for good food Govenor's Square is the place to go. There is about anything you could want around here, from steak houses and italian to Seafood and health reasturants.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: The gym is really nice with a pool, track, and many others means to excerise. Around campus are basketball courts and tennis courts to excerise outside. There are a few libraries on campus so there is alwaus a place close by to study or use a computer

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
