Parking: unless you drive before 8am, you will not find a parking space anywhere on campus. Also, if you live on campus theres really no need for a car.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Stuff to do regardless of age and interests. It's great!

Campus Dining: The Dining hall food vary from very good to terribly disgusting. After some experience, one will come to figure out what they do and don't want to get. Other than the dining halls, there is an Chili's on-campus, a food court, the 24/7 Diner, and small snack stores placed around campus. You would be best off getting the cheapest meal plan but with the most flex dollars. This way, you do not waste your time with dining halls any more than necessary and are able to still eat decently.

Transportation: There are many options of getting around campus and the surrounding areas. Car is the most popular, but you also have bike and a bus that travels all around campus from 7 in the morning to about 8 at night.

Campus Housing: Feels Like Home – I loved living on-campus. I lived in a suite style dorm where I shared a bathroom with 4 other girls. This year I will be living in an upperclassman dorm, which is apartment style.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Robberies and Crime – FSU is certainly not known for there safety. Though they have blue lights that you press and send an emergent message to police, there are still robberies and rapes at least 2x a month.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Guys Vs. Girls – I enjoy the ratio of students at FSU. I have an equal amount of guy and girl friends. I don't really judge on looks, but from what I have seen there are quite a lot of good looking students at FSU.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: In my opinion there is diversity at FSU, and alot of it. My roommate was Jamaican and she had a friend who was Haitian. She introduced me to a culture that I had never experienced and wouldn't have been able to if it hadn't been for her.

Facilities: I love the campus and all the facilities it has to offer. They just redid the library's first floor and it looks amazing. The Doak Campbell Stadium has been around a long time, but the upkeep is so nice that it looks brand new. There are many activities and events that go on around campus that can certainly keep a student busy throughout the school year.

Off-Campus Dining: Mr Roboto – One of the restaurants we have thats only in Tallahassee is Mr Roboto, its a sort of fast food sushi/hibachi place and it is sooo good!! Its also priced very well and they have this sauce, called yum-yum sauce that students are crazy for.

5 College Senior

Facilities: Social Scene Is Great – There is always something to do and somewhere to go, as long as you like drinking.

5 College Senior

Nightlife: Awesome Night Life – The bars are great and cheap and the deals are sweet. House parties are also everywhere and are a great time.

4 College Senior

Academics: Awesome Engineering Research – I came to Florida State University because of the great research in the fluids aspect of mechanical engineering. It has a very advanced and intriguing facility.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Big Presence on Campus but You Don't Need to Be a Part of It – Greeks have a pretty big presence on campus from all their philanthropies, spirit, sports, etc. However, it is very expensive to rush and be in the Greek system and you can have a lot of the same experiences for a lot cheaper by looking at other student organizations. Only a small percentage of FSU population are actually greek so it's not a super big deal if you are not able to join.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Not the Best, but Not the Worst Either – FSU has 3 different types of dorms. For underclassmen, there are community style and suite style. For upperclassmen, there are apartment style choices. The community style dorms are the older dorms on campus, but they are also cheaper. The rooms are smaller and you share a bathroom with the floor. However, the community style dorms are more social than the suite style dorms. The suite style dorms are newer, cleaner, and bigger. You share a bathroom with 3-4 other students.

There are a lot of social events inside the dorms either between floors, the entire building, or a group of buildings. The staff are really welcoming and very helpful with any problems and maintenance is generally pretty quick.

Living on campus is super convenient. You are right in the middle of all the action and classes are just a short a walk away. There are buses that take all around campus if you don't feel like walking and it definitely saves the stress of finding a parking spot.

Getting a room in a dorm isn't the easiest in the world though. There are more people that apply for rooms than get them so in order to get the dorm that you want, you need to send in your housing application right away.

Drug Safety: Drug use on FSU's campus is a very bad idea. FSU police is very good about cracking down and getting you into trouble. Alcohol use is very easy to do if you're smart and no obnoxious. If you're drinking in a dorm and being generally quiet and conserved about it, you'll be fine. But if you're drinking in your dorm with music BLASTING and you and your friends are screaming. Chances are, you're gonna get caught. My advice, find someone who lives off campus and do your illegal things there.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: Dining Halls – the dining halls on campus are wonderful and offer a variety of food everyday. everyone has an option of something to eat no matter what they like. it is not to expensive and if you dont use all your money in the dining halls you can use them all over campus which is very helpful.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: No Nonsense Policy – The campus is super strict about underage drinking and drug use, especially in the dorms. If a policeman catches you, you most likely will get a written arrest. RA's normally only make you pour it out and confiscate anything else you have. There is a safety inspection once a semester and contraband is removed from your room. Campus police also like to give out parking violations. Despite all of this, there are still sometimes problems that happen on campus (robberies, assaults etc) but FSU is generally really good about warning the students of any mishaps that occur.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: So Many Options! There is food EVERYWHERE in Tallahassee and so much variety! A lot of the restaurants are student friendly in terms of their prices and offer lots of student discounts and coupons. My favorite places are the Crepe Vine, Monks, Gordo's, Mellow Mushroom, and Five Guys. There's every type of cuisine you can imagine. There are also options for fine dining if you are up with your family.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: There are plenty of computers throughout campus, the majority of them focused in the libraries. However there are some available to use in most of the buildings in campus and some majors even have their own labs. The libraries tend to get super busy around finals and midterms time but any other time there isn't a problem finding one. I highly suggest that you bring your own computer to campus though.

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: So Many Different Races – There is a bunch of different ethnicitys around campus. Probabably more white than anything but there is still plenty of different races

4 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Busy Town – Tallahassee is a big town with a lot of different activites. There is plenty of Bars, there is the capitol, a mall nearby, you can always find something to do.

4 Recent Alumnus

Transportation: You Can Always Get There – They provide buses that go around campus, up til 1 am. They even have another bus service that picks up students who have been partying and drinking and can bring you back to campus safely. There is also a few other buses that give discount student rates to go to central and south florida for those who want to go home for the weekend or holidays.

4 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: Campus crime is not very serious, except for the occassional bike theif and local speeder. Campus is huge so theres usually always people around, as well as campus police on patrol. At night the campus is lit with street lights but some areas can be pretty dark. Campus provides call boxes but no real instructions on how to use them. Since this is an open campus locals are free to roam around, and so everyone cant be believed to be a student. This in itself can possess safety issues so traveling in groups at night is reccomended.

5 Recent Alumnus

Weather: Mostly Perfect – I love the weather here because its mostly sunny besides the occasional thunder storms during hurricane season, but the winter is cold but not freezing and springtime is my favorite here.
