Off-Campus Dining: Spread Out – Restaurants are spread all over Tallahassee and not just concentrated in one area. My favorite are Genghis grill and Azu. In Genghis grill you basically mix up what ever yo ant to eat in a bowl and they stir-fry it for you. Azu is an oriental restaurant with moderate prices. The ambiance is really good

Diversity: In my experience, I have found that FSU is extremely diverse. In every area of study, I have found people of not only many different ethnicities but of different socioeconomic standings, political, religious beliefs and sexual orientations as well. Overall, I would say the student population is not only diverse, but generally accepting as well.

Facilities: Florida State University successfully manages to provide excellent facilities for every area of atheletics, academia and misc recreation. Atheletic centers, student centers, and libraries are not only abundant but well-kept and easily accessible for any student. There are thousands of activities available at no or low-cost. These include on-campus bowling, the art center, various recreational facitilies (like Leach) and many others. And to top it all off, FSU is an extremely beautiful campus!

Overall Experience: Florida State is an awesome school. It has so much to offer and is outstanding academically. People tend to get caught up in the party scene but for me, I found that FSU offers a ton of other ways to have fun than to go to a frat house. I look forward to going to class everyday and despite being from Virginia, FSU makes me feel right at home.

Local Atmosphere: Fun City – Tallahassee is a very pretty city. The town is divided between FSU and Florida A&M. With the state capitol right up the street there is a strong political community on campus and a very active debate team. There are a ton of mountain biking trails and outdoor parks, as well as lots of locally owned "mom & pop" type restaurants.

Guys & Girls: Lots of Greek Life – At FSU there are a ton of Fraternities and Sororities and it seems like the majority of students are enrolled in one. I am not personally in one, nor do I have the desire to, but between all the different frats and sororities there is a lot to do and always something happening.

Scholarships: Long, Long Online Forms – The financial aid process at Florida State was not the smoothest. After filling out the FAFSA forms online, I was informed that I was only eligible for a loan. As for scholarships such as Bright Futures, the rewards are automatically transferred to a Suntrust bank account that you are recommended to open during orientation before your first year at the school.

Greek Life: The Greek life at Florida State is an experience to say the least. There are countless fraternities and sororities, catering to any type of person. I'd like to start out by saying that last semester I pledged to Alpha Kappa Psi, a co-ed professional business fraternity. This was not your average fraternity, but it shows that there will likely be a fraternity that caters to your specific interests. The frats and sororities are very prominent on campus but the school is so big that they don't make a significant impact on the social atmosphere. It's more like, the frats and sororities are there, and its simply up to the student to decide to live that life or not. Among non-Greeks it is a very common belief that all Greeks are jerks, and spoiled brats, but I believe that students usually don't even take them on. Greek housing is very noticeable when taking a cruise around campus. A great deal of fraternities and sororities have their own houses, and there also an off campus community called Heritage Grove where many other Greek housing is located.

Campus Housing: Never Lived in a Dorm but I've Visited Many – At FSU, there are is a great variety of dorms. There are dorms like Smith Hall and Kellum Hall, which are considered some of the worst dorms for their rather cramped design and prison feel. And there are newer dorms such as Ragans Hall, and Degraff Hall which are spacious and very clean. Pretty much all of the dorms have study rooms on multiple floors, a lounge room usually on the ground floor, and your basic utilities such as bathrooms and laundry rooms. The cost of the dorms vary depending on how nice the dorm is. Pretty much all of the dorms on the FSU campus are conveniently located in relation to the school. If your class isn't walking distance from the dorm then there will most certainly be a bus stop outside the door. The housing process is a fair, first come-first serve system. Students register online and are given a number that will likely decide where they will live. In my case, I was very late in filling out the housing registration and I ended up living off campus in an apartment. Overall I like the campus housing at Florida State University, and the only improvements they could make would be to build more dorms.

Facilities: The sports are amazing and gets everyone excited for every season. Being a seminole is the best

Off-Campus Housing: Tons of Choices – There are plenty of choices of off-campus housing for students that seem to be pretty affordable too.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off Campus Life – From word of advice, off campus life has its pros and cons. For example, parking is very hectic during the fall, laundry is expensive, and you have to go out of your way to meet people.while on campus many social events occur that make it nearly impossible to become actively engaged. on campus your definitely safer due to the protective atmosphere Florida State University provides.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Campus Life – Campus life offers more than just a welcoming home. Campus life allows one to become socially connected to peers. the dorms and social life both combine for a excellent experience that is offered here. many events occur that make it possible for anyone to find something of interest.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Seminole Life – theres numerous activities that one can engage in here. for example, FSU has a wonderful business frat. here that allows one to improve his/her leadership skills, along with becoming a humanitarian. The all famous leach is a three story gym where getting healthy, along with engaging in fitness workouts become popular. the rez. is also a wonderful place to enjoy peace and quiet, and learn about others cultures.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Dorm Quiet Hours Do NOTHING – There are supposed to be quiet hours during test time but they are never really enforced unless someone really complains about it. Besides that, nothing is really that strict.

2 College Senior

Greek Life: I do not generally notice the greek life at our school except for when they are rushing each fall semester. They have a lot to do with homecoming events and big parties off campus but it doesn't affect the rest of the student body unless they're connected to it in some way.

4 College Senior

Computers: The computers at our school are really good but sometimes they are not all functioning. It's nice to have a personal computer for note taking purposes but it isn't that important. You can get by without a computer if you can't afford one. You can always find a computer too, you just need to know where all the labs are. There are a ton, tehy're j

Facilities: The Leach Recreation center is so nice. They have 3 floors of workout machines as well as a weight room and other facilities. The pool always has free lanes and there are TV's everywhere. They have free classes available all day, every day.

5 College Junior

Athletics: Our atheletic programs are top-notch and great to watch. They are treated like royalty but work hard to deserve it. Go Noles!

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Attractive Girls and Rude Boys – Florida State has many good looking girls strolling the campus. While the boys are good looking as well, most of them are shallow and party too often. There are some guys who are genuine, but they are hard to find.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Diverse - but Barely – Every group s represented - but the vast majority seems to be white.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Safe If You're Smart – The campus security does an excellent job - but i wouldn't go anywhere without people at night - even to the library.

Transportation: Buses and More Buses. The Nole buses at FSU are completely free and take you all around campus and off campus to the local student apartments. Buses are running all the time and at convenient times. Its a very organized bus system for students to use. The city bus system is also free for FSU students and takes you anywhere that the Nole bus syetem doesn't. Only bad part is that the city bus system sometimes passes by once every hour at most locations.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: The Strip! Nightlife at FSU is more for the 21 and above crowd. We have an area referred to as "the strip" where are the major clubs and bars are at. Its actually located right across from campus. A convenient location but house parties are much better. You don't have to pay or wait in long lines. There is the Night Nole bus system that takes you back home from the clubs and its free for all FSU students. For those not 21 or above, we have the Student life center on campus. Movies are shown all week long at the SLC, starting around 7:00 pm. There is also the local cafes and hookah bars nearby.

5 College Junior

Academics: For All Accounting Majors!! The college of Business at Florida State offers many helpful opportunities for accounting students. Classes are fairly average and from time to time, we have guest speakers from Accounting firms who share their experiences and provide helpful tips. The Beta Alpha Psi is an honors accounting/finance society that offers many job and internship opportunities with the Big 4 accounting firms. They are extremely resourceful and will help build your accounting career.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
