Guys & Girls: Girls Are HOT! First time I walked on the Florida State Campus as a high school senior, I thought I was on a model shoot. Everywhere you walk there are beautiful women. The best part of the year is obviously sorority rush when you see all the beautiful girls walking around in their best dress. If you go out to the strip or any of the clubs you can find a very large collection of drop dead gorgeous women

Facilities: Everything at Florida State's campus is just beautiful. Every day you walk around campus and could not be happier with everything around you. Everyone is kind and willing to help you, including other students. The gym has everything you could ask for (but could get crowded at times), the libraries are being renovated and look great and are as full functioning as you could ever ask for. The social life is the best in the country, and if you deny it, just spend a weekend here at FSU. There is nothing like Florida State University, nothing like it in the whole world.

Greek Life: A Must Do! Greek Life is essential at FSU, the leaders on campus in student government and other organizations are mostly also greek. There is so much to do being part of greek life and there are also a few bars that are mostly populated by greek life. all of the sororities have houses on campus as well as a few fraternities, while the others reside in a big apartment complex designated for them off-campus. The great part is that you also dont necessarily have to be greek to take part in a lot of the perks- non-Greek girls are still welcome at frat parties and non-Greeks can still participate in the philanthropies as well.

Diversity: I feel like Florida State is great as far as diversity goes- I think most people feel welcome regardless of their race or culture. I am pleased to see the various clubs celebrating diversity in the courtyard every Wednesday.

My biggest issue is the way women are viewed on this campus in particular. It seems less balanced than most places I have been in the past. Not that women are treated unfairly, the male vs female interactions just seem less 21st century and more 1950's.

Campus Dining: Good Variety, Bad Hours – I found the variety to be appealing- from smoothie shops to Chili's to an Einstein bagels. My biggest issue would be the closing times. I would often get dismissed from my last class and find myself disappointed that most shops close down around 4 p.m.

Guys & Girls: Guys at FSU are either into tight cut off jean shorts or fraternities and parties.

Off-Campus Dining: Fresh Food Company – The food at FFC was so-so. Every blue moon, something actually good would show up. Several stations remain throughout the semester: omelets, pizza, salad, and the waffle maker.

4 College Junior

Facilities: Directed Individual Study – At Florida State, students can request to work under a professor and gaining experience in research. These opportunities are great to have for graduate school resumes and experience. They are available in many different colleges within the university. It's especially helpful in the sciences such as biology, chemistry, and physics.

4 College Junior

Computers: There are computer labs in the libraries and some of separate colleges such as Biological Sciences or the College of Psychology. The internet through the campus computers has always been fast. Our WIFI is relatively good, but in some classrooms, it's difficult to get a signal.

4 College Junior

Facilities: They just remodeled our major library and it has some very advanced technology made available for student use. Our Student Life Center includes our own movie theater which is free for students. They show a variety of movies to cater to any movie lover. Our student union is used for "Market Wednesdays" where vendors sell various items, (i.e posters, flags, jewelry) and also some of the greek life set up tables for possible recruits. Other than that day, the union is only popular because of our on-campus Chili's and Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Local Atmosphere: Tourist Town – Panama City is a small town, but its starting to gain more attractions besides the beautiful white beaches. Pier Park is the best place for shopping and Wonder Works is the most entertaining place to be when its raining.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The Ras Are Worse Than the Police – If you live on campus, the RAs are allowed to do unannounced room checks and if they find anything that is not allowed, they take it, send you a letter, make you attend a class on being a good resident, and send a note home. Even if it is just a previously burnt candle or a poster with any kind of alcohol paraphernalia. If you live off-campus, the police are pretty lenient unless things are getting out of control. If you keep everyone inside during a party and don't let anyone out of the house with a red solo cup, you're golden.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Don't Get a Meal Plan If You Can Avoid It – The dining halls, while having pretty good food, are such a pain to get to that the walk there would burn off more calories than the food you eat once you're there. Plus the meal plans are very expensive and contrary to your parents' beliefs, you won't end up eating there for every meal. The only problem with this is if you don't have a car to go to the grocery store. If that's the case, you kind of have to go to the dining halls.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Just Be Smart – Tallahassee is a very urban city and as such comes with areas that are safe and others that are unsafe. On campus you can usually count on patrolling officers to be close at hand, as well as emergency phones every few yards. However at night you just shouldn't walk anywhere alone, we do have armed robberies even on campus and the victims are usually alone at night.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: You Are Taken Care of – I came in as a Freshman with no car and was pretty worried about how I could survive especially when I opted out of a meal plan. Florida State makes it very easy not just to get around campus, which can be tiring to walk, but makes it easy to get all around Tallahassee. Bus fares are free with a student id.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Not Really an Issue – It does depend somewhat on who you hang out with but, drug use is not extremely active on campus. There aren't many students running around under the influence of drugs, it's typically alcohol use which is much much more conspicuous. The school does have rules and enforces them when necessary.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Learning for Real – I chose FSU because of its reputable Nursing program and gorgeous campus. Classes, big or small, are so amazing because the professors provide so many opportunities to put to practice what you hear in lecture. You don't just sit in class, take notes, and try to pass the exam. The professors actually want you to take something with you from their class and succeed.

Overall Experience: The people at FSU are very nice and I enjoy walking around the beautiful campus. I will be proud to be a graduate of this university.

Greek Life: Alpha Kappa...IDK? My experience with Greek life is limited at FSU. I know there is a lot of it, but I have no intentions of joining.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: The school spirit and amount of different activities available to students is rather astounding. If you're interested in participating any skill level can be found and is accepted. If you like to watch sports, the gym and stadiums are more than adequate!

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments = Freedom – I have lived off campus for my whole college experience so far and I have enjoyed it very much. I have a kitchen to cook in, a place to openly party, and I have my own bedroom and bathroom to myself. The only bad part is being off campus and not being able to socialize with people of my own age all the time. Parking and security are both fine. Most of the apartments are cheaper than dorms and are easy to get in to.

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Act as an Adult and You Will Be Treated as an Adult – FSU treats its students as adults and as adults we are expected to act accordingly; cheating is, of course, punished with possible expulsion from the class and a failing grade but besides that we are trusted to act mature. As far as drug and alcohol use, students under the legal drinking age can be thrown out of the dorm he/she lives in but besides that if you are 21 you are allowed to have alcohol in your dorm room... though there is, of course, a zero tolerance policy on drugs. If you are caught, you are out of the dorms. Outside of the dorms, however, drug use is your own choice and the only punishment you receive is from the Tallahassee Police Department.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Liquor Is the Drug of Choice – Drug usage is usually within one or two specific fraternities (which will not be named...) peoples drug of choice is alcohol...and lots of it.

Campus Housing: Live in a Living Learning Community or Nothing Else. I worked as an RA for one year at FSU, so I had the opportunity to really immerse myself in the housing process completely. What I saw was quite appalling, actually. The staff, in most cases, hold double standards and are hypocritical when it comes to disciplinary actions and expectations. Some dorms on the FSU campus are nice (mainly the east side dorms, they have been renovated or are brand new) though quite a few on the west side are very old and run down, there is mold in the rooms, water stains, very tiny living space, gross and unkempt public bathrooms, and whats worse, a staff of RA's and head staff who decide to play off these awful living conditions with a sing-song attitude and call it a "homey and fun environment" while they sleep in their one person bedrooms which are larger than the 2 person rooms the residents live in. It would seem that your only safe bet is to get into a Living Learning Community because, usually, the best floors in the best dorms are reserved for the LLC students.

Academics: New Major at Old School – The Editing, Writing, and Media major was established at FSU last year, so there are still a lot of bugs to work out of the program. The classes I've had so far have been less than satisfactory, and few sections of required classes are available. However, the structure of the program is excellent and very focused. An internship is required for completion of the major, which is extremely useful for the future.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
