Academics: Biological Sciences – The professors in the biological science major are so smart! Each professor knows what he or she is teaching and they teach their subjects well. There are always at least two TAs in the chem help room at all hours of the day, and there is an entire library at FSU dedicated to sciences. Any time I need help with studying for an exam or a lab experiment I chck out the library for extra help. Campus is so beautiful all year round and there are always opportunities to meet new and exciting people in the same major as me. Almost every day I receive new emails on my FSU account about new job/internship openings, and with the help of the academic advisors they plan out a schedule that helps me have the chance to work and to study.

Overall Experience: Great College Life – FSU really has a great atmosphere, good classes, and overall it has been a great experience for me and I would do it all over again

2 College Senior

Academics: Unsatisfactory registration process and blackboard site

Campus Strictness: Not Like the Real World – FSUPD really doesn't take underage drinking seriously. They are more concerned with marijuana than alcohol. I have seen a girl come home from a party alone that could barely walk straight and was throwing up everywhere. You know what PD did when they were called? Escorted her to her room.

Guys & Girls: Same Old People – If guys are usually a big distraction to you, FSU is the place to be. I am in my second year, and still have not found any cute or interesting guys. Most of the ones I meet are athletes, and very full of themselves. Everyone else is nerdy and dorky.
As for the girls, they are mostly rich snobs. They seem nice at first, but they don't take long to show their true colors.

Academics: Not Really All That – I actually thought the nursing program at FSU was excellent, but I recently found out it really isn't all that people make it out to be. I went to the hospital, and the doctor jokingly told me they didnt really like to hire students from FSU. I went home and googled around a bit and found that compared to other schools in the area, FSU nursing program did a lot less "hands on" stuff. We read and learn a lot, but we really don't get much practice doing it.

Nightlife: Recently, I found out the hard way that taxis in Tallahassee are EXPENSIVE! Instead of spending 6 or more dollars on just a trip down the street take the Night Nole. It's free, comes at all times during the night, and not to mention memories will come from just a simple ride on that bus!

Off-Campus Housing: Stay Close! Finding an apartment close to Florida State University is easy. Even though the prices may be a little more expensive than what you would pay if you lived farther, I think it's worth it. Many pros about living closer to campus is the easiness of just being able to walk to class, the bus routes all go along major apartments next to the campus, and you can also have the freedom of living off campus without having to feel seperated from the university.

Academics: Always Willing to Help – Coming into Florida State University, I felt like choosing a major would be difficult and I would struggle with many classes but when I met with an academic advisor, they made all that stress and doubtfulness go away. They were able to answer questions, recommend the best classes towards majors I was interested, and even taught me time management skills. I now know whenever I have a problem, I can always could on my academic advisor to lend me a helping hand.

Weather: We live in Florida. When it's hot, it's HOT! When it rains, it gets muggy and the mosquitoes come out. There are a lot of hills so flooding and/or large puddles can occur. We do have a weather/emergency alert system but teachers make it very clear that even where there are extreme weather conditions (the severe ones that alerts that are sent out via text message) this does not provide as an excuse for tardiness or absentees.

Facilities: Although this school is older many of the facilities that I have used so far, such as the Leech gym, library and union have, for the most part, been updated and are enjoyable when accessing.

3 College Junior

Drug Safety: Policy Enforcement – So there's a zero drug policy on campus so don't abuse that or you'll be suspended or even kicked out of school.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: All of FSU has great wireless service. There's also a couple places where you can go and hang out or watch tv if you don't have cable in your room.

5 College Junior

Campus Dining: Lots of Options – There's a 24/hour Denny's and Starbucks. Also, there's a Chilies on campus and like 7 Einsteins, plus a food court with papa johns, stuff like that etc.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: The Same as High School – Florida State is just like high school when it comes to relationships between girls and guys. It's very easy to make friends with anyone on campus if you take a minute out of your time to talk to them. It depends on the people you like. The fashion fiends like the fashion fiends. The jocks like the jocks. Geeks like me can make friends with other geeks. But we all get along no matter what our interests are.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Really Tallahassee is just a college town. For me, all of the main attractions are on campus and just across the street off campus. There has to be at least one cultural event each month. Market Wednesdays are a great way to advertise and check out new and old organizations. Just off campus is all of the good places to eat. Momo's has slices of pizza that are bigger than my head!

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: The financial aid process isn't that hard. However, I'm not getting as much money this year as I got the last two years. One of the grants I was counting on for this year has suddenly become discontinued. I'm just going to have to get an on campus job this year so I can keep living in my dorm.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: FSU has great public transportation. You can take the public buses during the day so you can go around campus faster. You can call the Safe Bus at night if you don't feel safe walking alone in the dark. You can take the Night Nole bus if you're out late and need to get back on campus. The only problem is that the day buses only run until around 7:00 on weekdays.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: I'm a bit disappointed with our engineering program. The classes and teachers are all excellent. However, there is only one section for most of our required classes and only 35 students can fit in them. They say engineering students take 5 years to graduate, but I'm probably going to take 6 years. This is especially bad because most of my grants aren't given to students after their 5th year. I even know someone who took 7 years to graduate. It's even worse since the registration process makes it so that the people with the most credit hours choses classes first when people who didn't take as many AP classes in high school have to wait.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I would pick Florida State all over again. I've never had so much fun and freedom in my life. The campus is breathtakingly beautiful, all the stone buildings and beautiful green fields. The gym (leech center) has so many accommodations for students including an indoor track field with designated lanes for walkers and runners. I love this school. The education aspect is great too. Professors are awesome and willing to help out all the time. I'd definitely choose FSU again.

5 College Junior

Athletics: School Spirit – I attend FSU and there's nothing like showing up to a Nole game to really get your team spirit going. The games are crazy packed and fans from all over come to cheer on our seminoles. Overall great atmosphere for fun student activities.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Best Places to Check Out! Jenny's lunchbox is amazing for breakfast. Black dog coffee located on Lake Ella makes delicious drinks for non-corporate prices. What-a-burger is open 24 hours and has awesome burgers. For you vegans out there, sweet pea is a delicious all vegan restaurant in the area. Lots of local mom and pop shops all over Tallahassee all include that southern hospitality and hold an intimate charm.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: I came to Florida State University because it has one of the top nursing schools in the nation. My professors, advisors, and peers are extremely nice and helpful.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Pretty Lenient – The only strict enforcement I've noticed is that visiting hours are based on residence hall, and some of the halls require a contract saying you'll obey their rules of abstaining from drinking alcohol, and such.

College Freshman

Diversity: Open to All Types of People – All cultures and lifestyles are very accepting, even creating support groups, organizations and greek life groups.
