Majors: Hopeful for the Future – I've never had an internship but I plan on having one with a company like duPont where I can learn how to do my job as a chemical engineer and hopefully get offered a job when I graduate from college.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Challenging Career Path – Currently I am an Exploratory major but I want to major in Chemical Engineering. Though I still want to explore different subject areas to make sure that's what I really want to do. The workload is difficult my first semester at school, which was the summer, I took college algebra which was challenging and in the fall I will be taking Chemistry and Pre Calculus along with two other classes. The difficulty level of my classes will keep me in the books for most of my time in college and I know I will eventually have to take classes like Calculus 3 so I have to retain the knowledge I'm gaining now to use as a foundation to build on later.

Local Atmosphere: College Town – Tallahassee may be the state capital but it isn't a very nice city. If it weren't for the Universities in the area the population would be drastically lower. It's just not a beautiful town but there is always something to do because college kids are always up to something.

Local Atmosphere: Tallahassee Atmosphere – Tallahassee is a place that fits the lifestyle of many different kinds of people. There are many popular nightclubs and bars for people that like the nightlife, a well-developed local music scene for people who enjoy concerts, and plenty of places to get out in nature like the beaches on the gulf or nearby springs and lakes.

Majors: No Hassels – I didn't have any problems getting into the psychology program or into the university. The most important criteria for admission is to take your required classes and do at least average in them. Tips: always see your adviser on a regular basis.

Academics: The academics at Florida State University are about average. However, if you can pursue other challenges and programs independently, Florida State has an ample amount of programs and opportunities to learn new skills and challenge yourself outside of the classroom.

Local Atmosphere: The best thing about going to Florida State is exploring the rivers, sinkholes, lakes that are in Tallahassee's surrounding area. Some rivers to canoe or kayak on are: The Wacissa, the Aucilla, the St. Marks, and The Wakulla.

Local Atmosphere: Something for Everyone – There is always something going on in Tallahassee. FSU owns a lake off campus where you can kayak, canoe, rock climb, sail, or even just chill on the beach and play a game of volleyball. Some of the best clubs are right here in Tallahassee as well. If you want to learn more about the history of Florida, the capital building is right down the road and many festivals occur in the downtown area.

Majors: At FSU the English department is very knowledgeable. As an EWM major (Editing, Writing, Media) I am learning useful information that will help me in the work force. I enjoy my classes because they are informative and interesting. Every professor I have had thus far has been kind and instructive.

4 College Junior

Academics: I am currently an Editing, Writing, Media major within the English department. The faculty and staff of my department are extremely helpful and easy to work with. Outside of my department, there are many unique and interesting classes for students to take for their gen eds. The workload depends on the major or class load. I am going to be a junior this coming fall and haven't met a person yet at FSU who said they couldn't handle their course load. Most students take between 12-15 credit hours a semester. As an english major, my workload specifically involves a lot of writing and research. I have not applied for any internships as of yet but after speaking to an advisor, I know that there are any opportunities for me to get one in Tallahassee. Most internships for my major take into consideration that I am still a full time student and need flexible hours. Finding a job after graduation is in good standing since I know past graduates in my department that have found jobs in Tallahassee and elsewhere.

Local Atmosphere: Because FSU is such a big part of Tallahassee, college students are treated with respect and high regard. Tallahassee has numerous clubs and dinning areas within walking distance of campus. At night, students are provided with free transportation like the "Nigh Nole" and "Gotcha" to popular areas all over the city to prevent drunk driving. It stops at every major apartment complex, along with campus dorms, and takes students for free to the clubs and back safely. The taxi services in the city are excellent and cheap in case the students want a different means of transportation. FSU also has a reservation which includes a lake with kayaking and canoeing, free for FSU students. Because the city is so populated with a younger demographic, there are many concerts and special events that are held downtown. Driving can be frustrating in Tallahassee but everything is close and easy to get to, especially near campus. Students who live on campus very rarely need a car since there is so much public transportation provided. Shopping is limited since there are only two malls. However, good dinning is abundant. Tallahassee has great placing to eat-out, no matter what the budget. There are a lot of great local restaurants around campus for students to enjoy.

Facilities: School Spirit – FSU has great academic programs, but is also know for it tradition. Not only do we have a great football team. Traditions can be found everywhere on campus. During the football game the many different groups of students come together as a whole. As a former cheerleader. I physically saw it when we looked back up to the crowd to help motivate our boys!

Greek Life: Not Greek – I am not greek so I have no personally input. But they do a lot for the school community as a whole> most events are an open invite so non-greeks can join in as well.

4 College Junior

Academics: Student Studies – Majority of the professors can be found on "ratemyprofessor.com" which tells the students about the professors academic attitude. other than teachers. The students usually have 2 class time and teacher options and some classes can be done online.

Weather: Blazing Fires of Tallahassee – If you're coming from up north, you'll have a difficult time adjusting at first. In the summer, it is blazing hot, then it rains, then there is a permanent feeling of steam surrounding you for the rest of the day until the sun goes down which isn't until about 9 pm. In the winter, it is freezing. It's a humid kind of cold though, the kind that goes straight to your bones. Good news, we're in Florida and winter only lasts for three months. The fall and spring, however, are a godsend. These seasons are even shorter than winter but they are fantastic. Sidenote: Do not come to FSU without rainboots. It's not that it's constantly raining, but Tallahassee is full of hills and valleys so when it does rain your feet are in 4 inch puddles.

Athletics: We Love Our Noles! FSU recently won SportsNation's Best College Tradition contest. Chief Osceola and Renegade represent the tradition of the Seminoles in a breathtaking gallop across the football field before every home game, igniting the spear which in turn ignites the passion of the crowd. FSU has an outstanding amount of school spirit, a huge fan base, major student involvement in all sports, and one of the most beautiful college football stadiums in the country. Athletics at FSU really create a school pride that brings all students together and creates a unity that can definitely be felt when standing in Doak Campbell Stadium.

Academics: Family & Child Science – Our program is fairly small compared to most programs at FSU. We tend to have the same professor for multiple classes which is great. We have very few advisors though which can get a little tricky, but most of them do a good job. The workload isn't terrible which is why a lot of people use it as a backup so you have to have a lot of patience because there will be people in your major courses that just want to get by without any effort which can get aggravating. The job opportunities with a degree in this program are unlimited. It serves as a great basis for anyone interested in studying Social Work, Education, Criminology, Psychology, and many other paths in graduate school.

Transportation: They Are Great – There is bus transportation, taxis and other free ways to travel

3 College Freshman

Computers: It Is Ok. THe wireless is sometimes unreliable. Can be slow.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The proffesors are very nice, the curriculum is well rounded, the registration process is a little hard, the workload is hard, and there is great special study options.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Amazing Atmosphere – The Florida State University is an amazing place to call your home. The people on campus are amazing and nice, the campus itself is gorgeous to look at and the quality of the education you receive is outstanding. An amazing school for people from all walks of life.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: Psychology Major – Being a psychology major the classes aren't the most challenging but they are extremely interesting. For somebody like myself who is dedicated to a career in psychology and criminal justice there is nothing more fascinating.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: A Party School, With Smart Students – Though FSU is known as a party school, the students who attend FSU are smart and have worked hard to be where they are. Though students have lots of fun outside of their academic schedules, the students do take their school work seriously for the most part and have a genuine drive to do well in life and be sucessful in the workforce.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Wide Variety of Choices – When it comes to food at FSU, there are many choices. There are two very good dining halls on campus, however after eating at them for a semester they tend to get very old. They do offer very healthy options which is not typical for a dining hall. There are a few restaurants on campus such as Quiznos, Chili's, Papa Johns, and Pollo Tropical if you ever get tired of the dining halls. There's also Mom and Pop's hot dog stand which is pretty good! Students often hand ou these coupon books for free, make sure to grab one because they are filled with food specials for local restaurants!

3 College Sophomore

Academics: FSU offers a wide variety of majors and has many wonderful professors, however I will say that it does not have a lot of graduate programs. FSU offers a wide variety of classes, class times, and types of classes. It is possible to take all online classes, hybrid classes, and in-class classes. I think that the workload at FSU is average for college classes at a university.
