1 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: FSU barely reports any rapes or sexual assault. They do not do anything to avoid rape, as in telling men to not rape, rather they tell girls to be protective.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The tobacco free campus is not working because students do not get a punishment for smoking on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: The majority of students drink alcohol or smoke marijuana. They do not do other drugs as often.

4 College Sophomore

Parking: The notice of how many spots available on top of the garage is extremely helpful, especially the app because you can look it up before you head out to school to know where you should park.

2 College Sophomore

Weather: If there is an alert about severe thunderstorms class should not take place. It is unsafe to drive or walk around campus in those conditions.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: The wireless connection is not good in many locations.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: There is a big Greek community. As an outsider, I'm pretty indifferent.

Health & Safety: From what I hear, it's not a very safe campus but FSU and the campus police do an amazing job providing opportunities for students to stay as safe as they can, often using technology. The rest is up to the students.

Athletics: Football, football, football. Maybe a bit of basketball, and then some more football. I am a legacy of a FSU football player and have been attending games before I was two. School spirit is awesome and makes me incredibly proud.

Transportation: I live in Las Vegas, which is pretty far away. The incredibly small airport ensures that I always have at least two flights to get home and sometimes making the connection is a problem.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: While I come from a big city and miss the size terribly, Tallahassee is a great smaller town to be in. There are enough community events, beautiful parks, and used bookstores to keep me happy.

Off-Campus Dining: While mostly fast food, there are a few hidden jems off campus that are wonderful to go dine at if you have a mode of transportation.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It's not difficult for students to do what they want to do but neither are the RAs inattentive.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I have only lived on campus.

5 College Freshman

Majors: I love learning about English and our professors are fantastic, as is the building most of the classes are located in. The curriculum is pretty straight forward but remains interesting.

College Freshman

Majors: An internship is required for my major so I will have one in the future. I have concerns about finding an internship I am interested in that is located close to the campus, but otherwise I think it will be fine.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: It's pretty average as far as acceptance goes.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Sometimes it rains but the campus isn't too large.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I got financial aid because of my grades coming in

Drug Safety: FSU is ranked the #1 party school in America...need I say more? I don't partake, but it is very noticeable especially with anyone involved in FSU's vibrant Greek life.

Campus Housing: I lived in a dorm Freshman year, and I knew soon after that dorm life is not for me. I like having personal space and time to myself, but living in a dorm means that none of that is possible. I did make some of my closest friends at school living on campus, but I am very happy to now live off campus. I think it comes down to the person when deciding if campus housing is good or not. I know of other students who love it and even of students who lived off campus for a year and then decided they would rather live in a dorm. But personally for me, a dorm just wasn't the right fit. But there is a diversity of housing and even programs called "Living Learning Communities" that create smaller communities based on a common interest in a subject. I lived in one of these LLCs and was the best decisions I made in regards to living on campus.

Campus Strictness: When I first came to this school every incoming student, and their parents, were given presentations on how "strict" FSU was on a student's academics and enforcing campus rules on safety and drug/alcohol use. It felt like scare tactic that didn't work on many students. Now that I've been going to FSU for a few years, enforcement is kinda a joke. I know and hear of people who get away with breaking many rules of conduct. For me, my morals and values are in line with following FSU's rules so this is not a problem. As far as academics go, some professors could care less of your grades and then some are extremely strict. It's a bit unbalanced.

Local Atmosphere: Most of the interesting, cool things that happen in Tallahassee are based off what FSU does in the community. Many students stick to what is happening at school with their events, but that doesn't mean things aren't going on in town. There are different fairs that happen throughout the year, including an amazing carnival that occurs in the fall. We have a mall and it does the job for shoppers, but is nothing "amazing" compared to other malls in Gainesville, Orlando or Miami. We have a few museums that extremely interesting and definitely adds culture to Tallahassee, and with the Capital building being here, that adds a flavor to this town that sets it apart from other cities in Florida.

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining is pretty spot on. There is some diversity and great quality in food and service. I have gone out many times with friends and have had some of the best meals of my life. I just wish it wasn't all so expensive. It can empty your wallet pretty quickly.

Health & Safety: The one great thing about FSU is that we have our own police station: FSUPD. They are always on campus whether walking around, on golf carts, or patrolling in marked FSUPD cars, their presence is known. I know if I was in danger, they would be there to help me. We also have something called the "Blue Light Trail," which is a series of 400 strategically placed poles around campus that each have a blue light attached to give light to the path, as well as a built in call button that if pushed will connect the person immediately to a dispatcher to help. This is an added safety to campus that gives me ease when walking alone. I am not naive and do keep watch on my surroundings, especially if I am walking home alone at night. But I have never once felt my safety was in danger.

There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee.
