Overall Experience: Expecations Without Disapointments – It was always as is FSU was waiting for me to get here. I participated in Sorority Recruitment before classes started and met some of the most genuine girls I've ever known. Though I did not join the greek community, I have never felt excluded. The friendly atmosphere of Market Wednesdays in the Student Union and the Study Abroad fairs let me browse other ways to get involved. Tally is not a big city, so taking one loop around campus was all it took to know my way around. Ive never been lost here. The night clubs are always packed and the vintage shops are my favorite hang out. Venues constantly atract musical artists like Avicii. Those are just a few of the things I've been enjoying since I got here, but my main reasons for staying at FSU are the following. The professors are unforettable. I never thought a girly girl like myself would enjoy attending Microeconomics class. I'm serious. Finally, there is a niche for everyone. There wasn't a place for me in high school. Here, you can't easily tell who was cool in high school or how much money people have (Everyone is on financial aid and the campus is so big you couldnt possibly be found by your Regina George). The issues I faced in my home town disappeared into the relaxed enviornment of FSU, allowing me to focus on finding myself and working toward a degree.

Weather: Typical Florida Stuff – In August, don't bother getting dressed or straighening your hair. That's coming from a fashion major. You will sweat through your clothes and you will carry the largest water bottle you can buy. Come November, you may be confused as to why it hasn't gotten cooler yet. It will. Nonetheless, Ive never experienced anything below 30 degrees. I like that if I have to take early classes, I can throw on a sweather at 8 am and toss it in my bag by 10 am. Oh, Florida!

Facilities: Beautiful and Always Growing – We always have construction zones. That is my only complaint about the brick-walled historically beautiful camups. I see the constant construction projects as a sign that the school is growing, always needing more dorms, smoother sidewalks, and safer roads. Because everything is maintained well, all the facilities look so clean. The gym is about five or more times the size of the YMCA I worked out in near my high school. Besides, I can grab a green tea from Starbucks on the walk back to my dorm to recharge. One of the most friendly places on campus is the Stroizer Library, fondly known as Club Stroz. The whole first floor is always buzzing with gossip allowing the second and third floors to be overflowing with space for students to get serious work done- even at 2am!

Guys & Girls: Pretty Good – I won't say the guys here are better looking than the ones from my home country, I still think Brazil is better for that matter, but FSU is not far behind. You can find all kinds of person and there's no lack of good looking people all around.

Local Atmosphere: I'm Brazilian and it feels awesome to me that not all FSU students are Americans, because the gender and nationaly diversity is a big deal to me. The campus is really pretty, the weather is awesome and althought academics feels a bit less important than atletics (that's a huge deal around here) I feel I'm learning a lot. I'm really happy to be studying here.

5 College Senior

Majors: I love it because I really enjoy it. The teachers are great, the building is very new, and the courses are interesting.

5 College Senior

Campus Strictness: They are everywhere- very strict, but it gives a sense of safety around the campus.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: The nightlife at FSU has many varieties to choose from. Theres the bars, the clubs and the fraternity house parties. It all depends on your choice of people. Greek life is very big at FSU so any where you go you're bound to see sorority girls and fraternity boys. The clubs are full of a more diverse group of people while the bars are more of select groups. All the clubs and bars accept entry for 18 and up but you must be 21 to drink of course. Tallahassee literally provides the best transportation at night so kids to drink at night. Theres busses 24 hours, theres 4 dollar cabs for students, and the clubs provide transportation as well.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The athletics in my school bring the students together. Theres a lot of school spirit at every game. The students and alumnis bleed garnet and gold because they truly love their school and support it all the way. We have great team performance that is only getting better. The athletic facilities are state of the art. Tail gates at Florida State University pump up the fans for their games. Win or loose the fans still love their FSU sports teams.

Facilities: Florida States campus is loved and adored by all of the students. Florida State makes their facilities accessible to everyone and provide the best services for its students. All the facilities get students involved on campus. The student center always has something new everyday bringing in all different types of people together. The general campus is clean and gives off a warm feeling due to the schools involvement with the students. Theres an activity for everyone on campus you can never get bored because theres so many things to choose from.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Is the best campus, it works really hard to give everyone something to do or get involved with.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Everyone is super open to different people. I don't think you will see one alike person but everyone is accepting. The boys tend to be more jerkish than all the girls. The girls stick together on this campus.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Everyone is super friendly and mostly college students. There is always something going on at the campus or even downtown.

4 College Senior

Majors: I Love It! I'm a psychology major and I love it! I always wanted to be a pediatrician but the course load for a medical degree was too extensive and my heart wasn't in it to commit myself. I switched to psychology and I am very satisfied. I plan to go to graduate school for my Psy.D in clinical psychology. Possibly an emphasis in neuropsychology. I don't know how promising job search is going to be but I don't feel like that is the responsibility of the school anyhow. The only thing I dislike about my major is that it falls under the College of Arts and Sciences and they require three semesters of a foreign language!

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Very Limited. I never received financial aid while in school..not just here but my previous community college as well. If you are a single white female then forget it. You either have your bright futures scholarship (which they are slowly trying to take away) or you take out loans (unless your parents are fortunate enough to pay for tuition)

2 College Senior

Parking: It SUCKS!! If you don't get to school before 9.. there is no parking left. I always have to leave for class an hour early especially at the beginning of each semester just to ensure a parking space! For the amount of students that attend FSU you would think they would have more student parking and less staff parking/construction.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Pretty Easy – My Financial aid process was very easy. There is an application on your student profile that helps you with everything. It's all very easy to keep track of.

2 College Freshman

Parking: A Mess – There looks like there would be a lot of parking on campus but with 40,000 students, these spots become sparse very quickly. It's worth it to just plan on parking on the outskirts and then plan on walking or riding the bus to your classes.

5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Fun Florida – Everyone at FSU just likes to have a good time. Most everyone likes to stay in shape and be active for fun.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Parties around FSU are Bipolar they could be good when you get there but then it turns our to be lame. Night life out here sucks there are only four clubs/bars and most of them are 21 and up . No bueno

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Nole Town – Tallahassee is a city located in Florida, the sunshine state. Not only is Tallahassee home for the state capital but it is also home for the University of Florida State.Florida State is one of the oldest universities in Florida and one of the top schools as well. Even though the campus is surrounded by beautiful gardens and environment, I feel that there should be more events and activities to do outside of school. The town really doesnt have much to do or explore.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: We have a Greek Life. I personally do not participate.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I personally can't afford off-campus housing while I attend school. I currently live out of you car. I using the recreation center to showers and most eat out. It's a living and will be worth once I have my degree.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Student Center and Libraries – The Strozier library is open 24 hrs a day Monday thru Friday. It is also open over the weekend for about 8-10 hrs. The campus has a student life center which offers free movies, game night and socials. Love the social life at the campus.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: The campus is close to the strip which has several clubs, there is also a bar practically on campus. Around Tallahassee there are a large variety of clubs and bars to go to.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
