4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The restaurants around here are normal to other college towns. Fast food, bars, sitdowns, cafes... All types of food within walking distance or take a bus.

Campus Housing: Some of the buildings are very old such as Kellum, Smith, and Salley. Regardless of were you stay if you will enjoy yourself all depends on room/suite/floor mates and the RA. Residence halls on the west side of campus are usually cheaper and older the opposite for the east side. Check out http://www.housing.fsu.edu/ for more info.

Transportation: There is a stop for the bus almost everywhere at FSU and its free regardless of campus or city bus, as long as you have i.d. When the buses aren't running there is a Safe bus that will carry you anywhere on campus.

Campus Strictness: As far as drinking goes if you aren't falling over the police usually wont stop you. With smoking, inside of residence halls its much more strict because everyone smells it. Other than that everything is pretty relaxed from what I've seen.

Off-Campus Dining: Lots of great restaurants within walking distance of campus. Many ethnic restaurants in driving range as well. Lots of sushi and Chinese food is close by. Plus the classic fast food joints for a small quick meal are littered around the surrounding area.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Great weather almost year-round. Not much of an autumn season and during winter it can get a little cold out. Nothing extraordinarily unbearable. Humidity is not as bad as people think. It is very easy to get used to.

Parking: Parking at FSU is infamously terrible. The common rule of thumb is to arrive on campus at least an hour before your classes start in order to ensure a spot.

4 College Freshman

Computers: All computers have the latest software needed to complete any assignments given. Printing is extremely cheap in Strozier and the network around campus is fast and reliable. Sometimes wireless connectivity is a little spotty in crowded lecture halls because of everyone else's computers, but overall it is very good. Not much need for personal printer but a personal computer makes things a lot easier.

Nightlife: I am not a big partier, I don't drink and I get tired at night. But from what I've noticed, there is ALWAYS something to do or somewhere to go!

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I think there could be more restaurants but for the most part theres always something to do and it's usually cheap! The delivery options are the best!

Campus Strictness: Strictness isn't too much of an issue, I don't give it an A+ only because every school has to be strict in some ways in order to maintain an effective and positive campus.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Student life on campus is phenomenal. There's always a bunch of kids around campus, and everyone is super friendly. We all have school spirit and the desire to learn, making the university a great place to attend.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: floors collapse every once in a while. it keeps things exciting

Transportation: the bus system is good it goes lots of places off-campus. not very punctual so it's not good to depend on it to get to class

Computers: everthing here is amazing, nothing to complain about

Diversity: Tallahassee is practically georgia when it comes to population diversity. fsu is white and christian for the most part. They tolerate other nationalities better than other religions, but dont expect a thriving community for any minority groups on campus beyond christain groups and greek life.

Weather: Fog and cold one day followed by sweltering heat the next makes walking to and on campus a daily challenge. Invest in sneakers and boots.

5 College Freshman

Transportation: the public transportation here at Florida State is extremely useful. A bus comes around every 10 minutes running either way. There are various pick up locations. Although it stops at 7 and starts again at 10 within that time you can call a number and they will pick you up.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I love animation and digital media. The software programs I use to complete classwork is thoroughly enjoyable. I plan on attaining a career in California after I graduate.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: As a student animator, I plan on gaining an internship with film VFX companies while in school. Learning real life skills within an actual workplace will provide me with the competitive edge needed to excel in my career.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Gaining acceptance into the Animation program was not very intense, they didnt require a portfolio or any analysis of previous creative work. The most challenging part about the process is getting accepted into the actual Office Of Admissions. The program application process was pretty streamlined and organized.

2 College Senior

Transportation: The public transportation in Tallahassee use to be very convenient, but with new budget cuts and routing, it has become very difficult and time consuming to get around town. The campus transportation however is free and very convenient, but they do not operate during weekends or breaks.

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus student housing in Tallahassee is pretty expensive. Most students like myself who don't have parental financial support have to mantain a job in order to finance off-campus living expenses. On campus living is just as expensive so there really isn't a way around the struggle.

Majors: I don't feel it will be easy for me to get a job with a Religion and Chinese degree, considering the majority of what I want to do focuses on Tibet. However, considering that's what I love, I would do it over again in an instant.

Majors: I didn't need a specific application for this major. Easy to get into, and it's a small major, therefore it's easy to feel part of the community.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
