Parking: At peak hours, it can take over an hour to find parking. Good luck finding a spot from 10am to 4pm. However, the problem isn't the parking lots. If we build more lots, more students will drive to school; thus, the problem will be just as bad.

Campus Strictness: The Rules Are Fair – Florida State is quite clear about its policies. They are fair. Cheating is not tolerated; neither is drug/alcohol use in dorms. There aren't very many busts but they do not tolerate breaking the few rules.

Campus Housing: Suites Styles Wins – The dorms are Florida State University are really nice, but they are significantly better if you are in a suite style dorm. The community style dorms are in much older buildings that haven't been renovated since the 70s, and have rooms that are super cramped. I lived in Reynolds and absolutely loved it.

Facilities: Club Downunder – I absolutely love going to Club Downunder on campus. It's a real concert venue right on campus that brings touring acts from all across the country. It's great because I get introduced to a bunch of new musicians and artists on any given night of the week. The club itself is really nice, and even has a bar for people 21+. It's my favorite place to be on campus.

3 College Freshman

Facilities: Not Much to Know – Everything you need to know on FSU's campus is there when you need it. plenty of opporitunites, and in the know about what is going on, you just have to take the time out and look or in most cases apply.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: The Best of the Worst? Though not all of the housing is bad, its hard to get past the older buildings, though they have their charm, its hard to compare them to the newer residence halls. When placed in the same category Florida state is not as stellar in keeping them at the same level.

Local Atmosphere: Tallhasse: More to the Eye – As much as people complain in tallahassee that there isn't much to do, i have to disagree. If one wants to have fun they have to look for it. There are alwasy festivals and activities going around on campus and in the greater Tallahassee area, and even if that doesn't tickle your fancy, Georgia is onlt 30 min away. So theres plenty og opporitunities to have fun. Just look for them.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Not Bad, but Gets Boring – There's two all-you-can-eat dining halls on campus (but they're on opposite sides of campus, so you really only go to one) that your meals plans go to, and then you get FlexBucks that can be used at all of the eating places on campus, which include 5 Starbucks, Chilis, all-night Dennys, and the food court. Rumor is we're getting a Chik-Fil-A too! Most people won't get a meal plan after their first year.

Health & Safety: Mostly Safe, but Be Aware – Florida State is in the heart of Tallahassee, so it is generally considered an "urban" campus. There are police officers associated with the campus, and a police station on campus. You definitely have to be careful if you're walking around by yourself late at night, but if you're with a group of friends and aware of your surroundings, you shouldn't have a problem.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Student Activities – The school offers a variety of off campus activities that are easy to get involved in. The football, basketball, etc. games are an indescribable experience. My overall experience at this school has been great.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Student Friendly However Crime Is an Issue – Tallahassee is very student friendly, the restaurants, activities and organizations are very student oriented. Crime is often encountered;students should be extra aware late night. However, police exercise safety as a main priority.

3 College Junior

Academics: Workload Exceeds Credit Hours Given – the curriculum asks too much of the student in terms of workload for students in the biological sciences, chemistry, or physics. A student taking 12 credit hours in these courses will typically have to attend class for 18 hours a week. The work load exceeds the credit hours given by a significant amount.

Majors: Great Programs – FSU helps to transition you into your intended program. I applied for a program at FSU which allows undergrads to get involved with research teams which is perfect for my field of study which is geology. there is something for everyone. we have great programs and very helpful instructors.

Greek Life: A Normal Greek Scene – Greek life is very acceptable at FSU. We have a large Greek scene because we are a major university. It doesn't matter if you are in a sorority or fraternity because everyone still hangs out with each other.

Facilities: Campus Activities – Florida State University has an excellent source of activities. We have a year round circus program where students are allowed to be trained as circus performers and semi-annual shows are offered to students for free. We have one of the three year round circus facitilies in the county. Along with our circus, we have many sporting events all of which are free to students after ticket registration online. There is always something to do at FSU.

Athletics: Our athletics at Florida State University are very accessible to students and fans. There is an organization called Student Boosters that are FSU students who get a ticket for every home game and have events with the athletic department. Our team's performance is average. But our athletic traditions are strong. Our students have the maximum level of school spirit.

Local Atmosphere: Florida State University is conveniently located in Tallahassee, where you can enjoy a calm walk on Lake Ella park, go to a pool and lay out, or enjoy the night life at a local bar or club. There is a variety of activities to do depending on your interest. There are pool parties when the weather nice. Also celebrity appearances at clubs, which there many and they have wide range of music. There are festivals for multicultural organizations in FSU. They have food, dancing, and other traditional events for that culture. The Rez has a variety of our door activities to do with friends.

Health & Safety: Campus crime is not a big issue at Florida State University. It happens once in a while, but we get email and text messages from the school with information about the crime. It is a very good service that FSU offers, and you can sign up for it on their website. There are police officers who can escort you if you need to walk at night and there are emergency poles that you can press a button if you need help. I am on campus all the time and it is not a place that I feel comfortable, and safe at.

2 College Junior

Parking: I believe this is the case for most universities of this size but no matter how many garages they build parking is always an issue but it is an issue you can get around because of the public transportation offered by the school and recently added valet parking in case of emergency.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Very Attractive – The student body is very attractive. Most students dedicate a lot of time to working out and taking care of their appearance.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Somewhat Diverse – The school is not extremely diverse but it is very accepting and there are clubs for all kinds of people. The atmosphere of the school is one of acceptance towards every background.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The bus system is good. Unless you try to get on between 3-5 then you will get stuck. But most of the time it's on time and well run.

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: Go Greek!!!! The Greek Life here is awesome. As a member of this awesome community, I have met so many new people. I have also given so much back to the community such as Dance Marathon and philanthropic events.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The Political Science, biology, music, and business programs here are all top notch.

4 College Junior

Parking: The parking is wonderful on the FSU Panama City campus. Parking permits are free and were given out to the students along with popcorn, ice cream, and tropical smoothie drinks as an added incentive to pick them up. The campus is very compact and everything is within walking distance, so I just pick a parking space at the beginning of the day and walk only a short distance to the buildings. The local trolley even has two stop points directly in front of the campus entrance, which I have seen utilized by many of my fellow students.

The only problems I have ever had was when a conference was being held in the building my class was been held in. The parking lot directly beside the building was full, so I had to park in the additional parking lot. It wasn't much more of a walk though.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee. It has so much to offer, from exciting nightlife to beautiful weather.

Although it bears the reputation of a party school, FSU also has a growing reputation for turning out some of the best and brightest graduates in the entire nation. The school is now turning its focus on research, which should appeal to those interested in science and mathematics. But never fear, FSU also emphasizes the arts through their award-winning film and theater departments. From math and science, to the arts, FSU offers a vast array of eclectic degrees, which will be nothing but helpful later in your life. Choosing which college to attend is not an easy decision, but if you’re looking for the perfect combination of a good education and a good time, you can’t do much better than Florida State University.
