4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: The cost is decent and the restaurants are local. I appreciate the short drive and scenic view. I enjoy Gelati Joes and the Smoothie King restaurants near my school.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The off-campus dining is pretty average, what most expect in a college location.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: The college is near downtown Lakeland. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but if you are willing to drive 10 minutes or less, there is a much better variety. Of course there are the fast food places nearby, but there are higher quality places I love to go to as well. There is Panera Bread, Mongolian Grill, Burger 21, Five Guys, Tropical Smoothie, and of course several pizza places.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: There's the typical fast food, and there's also familiar restaurants like Texas Roadhouse, Olive Garden, and Red Lobster. If you're a sushi fan there's a good place near the Publix. Not too expensive. Downtown Disney is also 35 minutes away fro the college.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I don't know. I don't go very often. A student's budget does not typically allow for such things.

Lakeland has a wide variety of restaurants, especially for how small the city is. There are many fast food and sit-down options, all very close to the school. As such, there is an option for any occasion, whether it is a date night or just a quick bite before class. The close proximity to campus is a good thing because there are no fast food restaurants on campus. If a student is looking for a place to eat, going down one of the main streets, such as US 98 or Bartow Road, has many restaurant options. There are also several shopping areas that are surrounded by places to eat, so a shopping trip could be combined with a meal off campus.

Besides fast food fare, there are also many small, locally-owned restaurants. This variety is good when family or friends come to visit a student because the student can share a restaurant that is unique to Lakeland. Lakeland has a couple of options for healthy dining, but there aren't many. If students wish to cook for themselves, the area is close to rural areas, so there are farmers' markets from time to time, when fresh produce is available; especially around the different seasons (such as strawberry season), fresh produce will be plentiful.
