4 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I only know a few people on campus that are involved with drugs or alcohol.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drug Safety is a serious matter and is handled accordingly.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I personally have not seen physical drugs around the campus however I hear conversations about students participating in using drugs around campus. When it comes to alcohol visibility, the few times I have seen hints of alcohol usage is from the empty bottles in a trash can or in places off-campus but close to the school. Peer pressure does not seem to be much of thing. There are students of course curious about the effects and experiences of alcohol or drug use and so experienced students will give them information and suggest what to try and what no to try but I have not heard of it being persistently pushed on people. The policies and rules against the uses of alcohol and drugs seem to be enforced and carried out... then again of course I know of evidence that it still goes on. I have heard a few stories on students being reprimanded and punished for usage or possession.

At Florida Gulf Coast University, if people want to do drugs, they can find them as long as they know where to go. The school, on the other hand, does have a zero-tolerance policy on drugs. The dorms have strict rules about underage drinking. Mostly, the drug scene is popular amongst the guys and takes place off campus. People do like to get high, but most people are heavy drinkers, many being kicked out of clubs for drinking. You are bound to find a stoner or an alcoholic somewhere on campus.

If someone wants to do drugs and have the "college experience," there are "parties" on and off campus where you just have to know people who do them and know where to go. While you don't have to party or do drugs to enjoy your time at FGCU, the University has the reputation of being a "party school." But like any other college or university, there will be parties, drinking, and drug use—just like in the real world.
