The most commonly-heard complaint from the FC student body is about the quality of the food. The quality has drastically improved in the last few years, but home-cooking or off-campus dining are usually preferred over Florida College's two campus dining locations: Henderson Dining Hall and the Pelican Pouch. The Dining Hall, otherwise known as "the Caf," is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day except Saturday, when it is open for brunch and dinner. The Pouch, a grill located in the Student Center, is open from late morning to early afternoon on weekdays. It offers snacks and grilled food, as well as various cold bottled beverages, such as soda, milk, Vitamin Water, and juice.
The Food Services staff works hard, but cooking for 500-plus people three times each day can be a daunting task. Some days the food is really good, but other days it leans toward the "blah" side. The stations in the Caf range from hot main and side dishes to pizza and fries to a salad bar to a cereal bar for those who do not find the choices of the day appealing. With the recent investment in a pizza oven, the Caf's pizza is the new student favorite.
