Nightlife: There aren't many bars or clubs in the area. If you venture too far you go into the ghetto. There's a bunch of parties in the off-campus apartments, but they're always incredibly crowded and filled with cocky jocks.

Nightlife: There are a couple close bars to go too full of students.

Nightlife: The social scene is pretty tame. Not an overwhelming amount of parties, but there is usually something to do.

About 50 percent of the students that live on campus go home on the weekends to work, visit friends and family, or go on short weekend trips. With such a quiet campus on the weekends, most parties happen during the week, mainly on Thursdays. Many of the parties are hosted in off-campus houses. Sometimes you have to pay ahead of time to secure your spot at the party. Some hosts put a limit to how many people can go so that it doesn't attract the attention of the locals or police.

There is one club near campus, Whiskey Alley, that is very popular with the students. There are a handful of bars close to campus, such as JR's, Destare, and Slattery's Restaurant. If you are looking for a bigger party atmosphere, your best bet is to take the train into Boston. There is a club, Throwed, that has themed nights once a week at the Middle East. Many students get really into those nights and take group trips into the city for those parties. Students that are underage tend to find their way when they get to campus. Sometimes this can be following the 21-plus crowd, and other times it is going to the campus events put together by the Fitchburg Activities Board.
