3 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel like campus police do a good job to make sure that the students are safe. When it does get late at the commuter rail and the shuttle is not running I wish campus police would be quicker at coming to get students.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are always cops out patrolling and emergency buttons around campus to press.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Fitchburg itself is a rough town. The campus is very secure, campus police do a very good job. However, the number of broken blue phones is concerning, as is the unlit, poorly paved walk to civic center.

4 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: The campus security seems to be very good for the most part from my standards

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Campus police do a good job on breaking up parties and giving out tickets, I do not see them all the time, however they are around.

Health Services is available to all students, regardless of your health insurance. There are two nurse practitioners and one physician. They are all trained and certified to diagnose students and provide prescriptions if needed. The physician is on campus one day a week but is on call the other six days. Health Services provides educational programs throughout the year about healthy living for students. Vaccinations are also available. There is one hospital, Leominster Hospital, which is about a 15 minute ride from campus. Burbank Urgent Care, a clinic for minor health issues, is about a five-minute ride from campus. Campus Police may bring you to either place if need be.

Campus Police is located on North Street directly across from the Recreation Center. They patrol campus 24 hours a day, even when class is not in session. They are all certified police officers, meaning they can do anything a police officer in your hometown can do, such as carry a gun, make an arrest, etc. The Rescue Squad on campus, organized by Campus Police, are all trained First Responders or EMTs. There is also a Student Escort Service on campus. The shuttle runs most nights until midnight, and then campus police can escort you to your destination after that. The escort service is a free service to students, and escorts always carry a two-way radio to immediately get in touch with Campus Police dispatch if necessary.
