4 College Junior

Parking: I find a spot very easily and it is OK that I have to walk 50 to 100 feet to the building. Gives me time to do extra cramming for tests :)

5 College Senior

Parking: Smaller facility here in Traverse City makes for great parking!

3 College Junior

Parking: Parking can be hard to find for commuters. For some dorms, on-campus parking can end up pretty far away. Permits are reasonably priced. The tickets and fines can be a bit harsh though.

4 College Student

Parking: I park in a residence hall lot, so I don't have many issues with parking.

2 Recent Alumnus

Parking: If you can find a parking spot, you'll still have a ways to walk, and watch out for tickets!

The parking situation on campus is not the best according to students. It is extremely difficult to find a parking spot on campus, but on a better note, the parking lots are located near many of the school buildings. The permits cost only $95 a year, which is a benefit! There are workers who go around and check cars for permits from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, after 5 p.m. and on the weekends, students are able to park their cars anywhere on campus without being fined.

There is a good availability of parking permits, so if a student wants one, it is pretty much a sure thing. To acquire a permit, a student must go to the Department of Public Safety and go through any easy process that requires showing a valid license and vehicle registration. With the difficulty of finding a spot related to being late for class, most students either walk to classes or park off campus in order to make things easier. Parking on the streets right outside of campus is free, but there is a lack of available spots, so it is first-come, first-served!
