College Sophomore

Nightlife: I have not lived in the Big Rapids area

2 College Student

Nightlife: There really is not a whole lot to do around here. There have been weekends where there is absolutely nothing going on anywhere. Also, a lot of places do not stay open late enough to do anything.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I have only been on campus at night one time.

3 College Student

Nightlife: There's usually always something going on

4 College Junior

Nightlife: I have never taken a taxi, but I heard the service is great and affordable. Also, there is a party bus which I heard is pretty fun. Most of the parties are within walking distance though. Also, I heard the main bar/club everyone goes to is cramped. I saw the bar and it looked small, so that is understandable. The underage drinking nightlife...never did that, but I know it is everywhere. The parties at Ferris are said to be the best. Generally, frats charge 5 dollars to guys, and girls get in free - this includes unlimited drinks. I have only been to one party at Ferris, but I have to say that it was quite enjoyable. So, I would suggest anyone to go to at least one party at Ferris, because it is a great experience. Also, I encourage everyone to go to the Halloween parties.

Parties happen from Wednesday through Saturday. There are many different options off campus to find a way to have fun. The best option when drinking is to designate a driver. There are many people who do not drink on campus, and there is a Safe Ride option where they will pick up people from the bars. The other option is to take a taxi, but that could take a while on "party" nights.

Big Rapids is quite a small area, so there are not too many different bars and clubs located near the campus. Other options in the area are house parties or frat parties on the weekends. The local bars are a great place to go if you're 21 or over. They are convenient to get to, the cover price is not too high (nor are the drink prices), and they have a fun atmosphere. The only downside to the bars is that there is a lack of variety of places to go to. After a while, some of the bars get routine and boring. There are not too many options for underage students. The best options are house parties, going bowling, going to the movies, or hanging out at the dorms.
