5 College Sophomore

Majors: awesome, everything i was looking for as to educating me for my chosen vocation.

College Sophomore

Majors: Have not been involved in internship yet

Overall Experience: Ferris is a great school for whatever you'd like to do, you just have to find your niche.

4 Recent Alumnus

Overall Experience: Mostly depends on your career choice. You have to research job opportunities on your own if you want to get into a thriving field.

3 Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: There are a lot of parties, however, I'm not really into that scene.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Its easy to find places. Prices are high, but its worth it. Apartment quality varies considerably between places.

Overall Experience: There are statues of Bulldogs all over town...they are dressed up and painted.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am not a part of greek life, and don't know much about it on this campus. I know more about CMU greek life than I do ferris greek life and I don't even go to CMU

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: there isn't much crime, as in it is not frequent, however, when it does occur, it seems to be violent, such as 4 am shooting (which occured off campus, but involved an on campous student to my understanding).

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: I haven't really witnessed much, or been involved in anytrhing, but with the few incidents I heard about last year, they have done a great job and caught violent offenders very quickly and offer emergency text message alerts, which I think everyone should opt into.

College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I have never lived in the dorms, or even been in one. I have heard about them though.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: In class classes are great, but the online classes could use some help. If they were structured the same, it would help a lot. Not knowing where to go to find discussion boards and weekly assignments is a big pain.

I am in radiograohy, business, and allied health, and it seems to be a great combination and professors are rooting for me and commenting on the great combination.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: registration is easy, but CMU has a neat feature I would like to see at Ferris.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: For the most part, the programs are great. The only thing I am dissatisfied with is the fact that I am qualified for my program, and have to wait to get it. there is no points system, and to get in the program, GPAs are not used to decide who gets in this year and who doesn't. So someone with a 2.5 GPA who qualified one semester before me, will get in before me even though I have a 3.96 GPA.

Majors: I answered this in the previous question

Campus Dining: I've only eaten at the Rock a couple of times. but it is not as great as everyone makes it out to be

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: There are people from all walks of life, and it's awesome!

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I don't qualify for student financial aid, however I did receieve a scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa, an honor society of two year colleges ( I transferred to Ferris, and this is from the previous collge, but they work with Ferris to ensure community college students can continue their education).

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: There are some okay places, but the prices are ridiculous and I have heard bad things about every place.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: i would say that Ferrris has some people opf every kind and background. there are lots of foreign Asian and Indian students of both genders. Lots of preppy people, as well as a few extremes on both ends of the spectrum, however I would consider most people average.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: I'm not really very familiar with housing off campus

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: As much as I complain I know that the options I get are better than the options on other campuses. Ferris has some of the best food for Universities.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: I do enjoy the program I'm in but so far after having switched to it I've seen the work load increase.

College Sophomore

Majors: I haven't had an internship yet. I am not sure if I need one or not. Some of the majors do. Currently I haven't really thought much about it.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Residence halls were required for freshman my first year. I was unhappy about that at first but now I'm glad they did it. The friends you make in your hall are very important so I would recommend going. There are always people around and there is usually something to do. Note: RA's make mistakes too.

According to students, if they were given the option to go to this school again, 69% of students would choose Ferris! The same amount of students surveyed said that they like most everything about the school and would only change a few things. Overall, students find that there are many great people to meet, and it's a good academic college. Though some stress the lack of entertainment and “city” things to do, if a person is content with small-town life, then this would be the best place.

The people and the faculty make Ferris a great experience. The faculty and staff are pretty helpful and understanding if a student needs extra help or is having problems with something. The school and faculty seem to care about the students and take an interest in students getting the help and the experiences they should. As long as the student puts in a decent amount of effort in their classes, faculty will be more apt to help.

Another great factor about the school is that class sizes are small, and there is more individualized attention for each student. Since the community is small, there are not too many things to do, but there are enough! There are several bars, a bowling alley, a movie theater, and tons of parties and get-togethers throughout the week. Since people seem to be so friendly on and around campus, it is easy to make friends and have something to do and someone to do it with! While in school, though education is the main focus, it is important to have some balance in life and join other groups and activities (which there are many to pick from).
