College Junior

Online Courses: I have not taken any online course so far.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The school has many resources rooms such as the library, the textile room, the sewing machines, and computers, the dress forms, and as well as the state-of-the-art knitting machines.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The school has over 10 computer rooms located on the main campus and a couple surrounding the school. Free printing service is offered in most rooms, and if you have any questions you can usually find a instructor nearby.

Academic Experience: As a fashion design major at FIDM, I am highly dedicated to my work. The instructors expect you to give your everything. You do not get graded on your effort, but the results of you work. My favorite part about the school is how everyone treats you as if you are already in the fashion industry. At FIDM you are challenged constantly to better yourself.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: At FIDM, you have to take basic classes as well as those that's directly related to your major. At the IDEA center, there are people ready to help you with specific classes (such as fashion illustration) and general studies (such as effective speaking).

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: FIDM offers classes from 8:30 in the morning to 9:00 at night. The school offers Saturday classes for people with busy schedules. The school is very considerate because many students have part-time jobs on campus or outside of school. When it comes to transferring credits, I was able to transfer my AP scores easily.

Tuition & Financial Aid: FIDM is a private for-profit school, therefore it offers less scholarships compare to the state schools. The tuition is significantly more, and I did receive less money from the state due to the fact that I am attending a private school. However I am satisfied with the education I have been receiving.

College Junior

Career Services: I'm currently in my 3rd quarter here at FIDM. The school's career center has a rule where you can only receive internship opportunities if you are in your second to last quarter. Because of that, I am unable to give a just rating.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: So far I have been enjoying my time at FIDM. I love the fact that these knowledges that I have gained helped to transform my vision into a 3-D garment that makes people wonder where they can buy one.

4 College Junior

Student Body: Most people at FIDM are very open minded. We are open to new ideas, different ethnic groups, varies economic backgrounds, and different sexual orientation. The one thing that binds us together is our passion towards our dream.

4 College Junior

Facilities: I love how we have easy access to different kinds of resources in our school. Whether it's the library or the sewing room, the idea center or the textile machines, the large number of supplies in our school have made finals easier to manage.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I'm learning a lot and my grades are great! I know this school is expensive but I wasn't going to let it stop me from going there; it was where I wanted to go. The financial aid offices are great. They help you whenever you ask. All you have to do is ask(: I always email them with anything I need and then come up to them personally. My tips for financial aid is basically watch out for the different of loans and grant. Very big difference.

4 College Junior

Student Body: everyone has their own group of friends but it is easy to meet new people through classes, guest speakers, and student council.

5 College Junior

Academic Experience: I have learned so many new things and I love that I will be doing these things in my future. Some of the generic classes aren't fun and don't have a lot to do with the major you are in but they are still interesting.

My favorite part of each quarter is getting supplies for each class! it's like christmas!

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: Tuition seems like a lot at first but this also includes all of your books and supplies. Make sure you keep track of your supplies because some of them are expensive to replace. You will get industry experiences in almost all of your classes and you will meet many new people that can help you will studying and class work. Some of your teachers you will love and others not so much but all of your classes are important to the feild you want to go into so dont skip classes!

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: I definitely get what I pay for at my school. I know my classes will really help me in the future. Get in all of your financial aid forms on time and you will have no problems.

5 College Junior

Campus Resources: My school has many fashion subscriptions to trend reports, runway images, and great books and computers for school work. The library staff is very helpful and has materials such as construction paper to light boxes for students to use. The career center gives information about interviews and job openings. FIDM has a job fair where multiple store representatives come in and interview students on the spot.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: FIDM has flexible options for classes and has the same course multiple times a week. They are not flexible on late work or making exceptions on missing class. I am able to work 20 hours a week and still focus on school work. I did not attend a college before FIDM so I am not sure how easy transferring credits would be.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The facilities on campus are great! I love the library which has great resources for research and for information ranging from trends to issues of vogue from the 1900s. The idea center is very helpful for tutoring and working in a quiet place. The career center always has lists of jobs that are hiring and volunteer opportunities. It is a very comfortable campus and the staff and faculty are very nice. There are t.v.s in the lounges and students are able to rent movies.

Student Body: I love my school. I am so happy to go here. I am an online student so I cant descibe the student body. I do not think they just accept whoever, so I am very grateful to have been accepted. My only complaint is that I dont think that some of the online teachers answer their emails fast enough. We are online, thus we arent in a classroom where we can ask questions. We can only email our questions so if teachers arent responding it limits our time we have to do our assignments.

5 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: My degree is comepletely online so it make my school schedule really flexible so I can continue to work full time while getting my graduate degree.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Fidm Oc Is So Homy and Perfect – facilities are in prefect condition
campus life- lots of free food, guest speakers, weekend activities, holiday celebrations
the oc campus is fairly small so everyone is very close, it feels like home (considering i spend most of my time there whether in class or working on hw)
the programs are intense and filled with so much for you to learn and the teachers are so helpful and knowledgeable and can relate industry experiences they have to what we learn if using a book

5 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I Love Being a Merch Prod Dev Major! my major is hard and requires a lot of work, but i love it. the classes are so diverse and really help build off of one another. the school itself is beautiful and always kept in perfect shape and internships/job opportunities are easy to access through the student portal or on campus in the career center, as well as in person opportunities (companies come to campus to hire, we also have a job fair)

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Awesome Professors – i love all of my professors. they really care about the students performance and want each and every one of us to succeed so we will do well in the industry. they are all knowledgeable and can relate ideas in the books to real life situations very easily. as for work load, each quarter only gets harder and harder. the teachers must teach what they are told to teach and often its a lot for the student and teacher in a 3/6 hour class period.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I Love Being a Fidm Student – the oc campus is very small and homey, all of my peers feel like family and the campus is full of familiar faces. all of my teachers are amazing- they all have lots of industry experience and amazing stories to share. i commute to school 3 days a week which makes my 5 class schedule a little difficult but i have been able to work through it and achieve straight a's! i may not be getting the typical college experience (sorority, living in a dorm/on my own) but i wouldn't change my decision of going to fidm for the world!
