1 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The area around FDU is super expensive, so it's hard to find affordable housing.

1 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus, but I hear off campus it can be annoying especially with weather, neighbors not liking college students around, and distance.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The school is in an expensive area so housing is expensive, so everyone lives on campus

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Alot of students find it easier to live off campus and like it. The rent isnt to bad.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: My school is in a rich area. While some of the housing options may be more pricey, it is worth it because it is close enough to class as well as local towns and businesses. It is also extremely safe.

Fairleigh Dickinson does not own any off-campus housing, so for those who do not wish to live in the dorms, it is up to them to find their own housing. There are plenty of places to live close to school in Madison, but the prices are much higher than in the neighboring towns. Most students who choose to live off campus live roughly 15 minutes away in Morristown, which is much cheaper than Madison.

Due to the high cost of living on campus, many students find that off-campus housing is cheaper than the room and board charges at FDU; however, people who live in off-campus housing are then listed as "commuters," and as commuters they are typically not allowed to have meal plans on campus, making them look elsewhere for food. Commuter students are in charge of finding their own parking on campus, as the only lots for commuter students are by the academic buildings and not near any of the dorms.
