Local Atmosphere: Emory's atmosphere caters to a niche crowd whose interest in college sports is trumped by a preppy and expensive taste in fashion and lifestyle.

Local Atmosphere: I think that Emory's proximity to restaurants and clubs in Atlanta is great. It's a University experience that requires some exploring on one's own. I found this restaurant named Bhojanic on Clairmont which has excellent food and service. I think many of the restaurants are conscious of the college community and cater to it well. Nightlife is not grandiose, but there are a few spots that you can find that fit your tastes.

Local Atmosphere: Decatur is a nice indie small American town that is charming and is close enough to Atlanta so you have the urban vibe and yet has a nice small town charm that keeps things fresh and light.

Local Atmosphere: There are many attractions in Atlanta.

Local Atmosphere: I like my school's atmosphere. You do have to drive out a little bit to get to the main part of city where you can do things but even without a car, there is pretty good transportation and there are parks and restaurants around campus you can go to.

Atlanta retains its rich historical feel, while at the same time creating a modern metropolis. Four years of college may not be enough to explore and experience all that Atlanta has to offer. There is so much to do in Buckhead, Little Five Points, Virginia Highlands, Midtown, and other neighborhoods, and each of these places are no more than a 20-minute drive away. One is sure to find an excellent meal and night out on the town in these areas, as they are full of a wide variety of excellent restaurants and bars.

One day you can visit Martin Luther King Jr.'s childhood home, and the next day you can enjoy the Georgia Aquarium, the world's largest. Piedmont Park and the Botanical Gardens are also beautiful places to visit during the fall and spring seasons when the weather is nice. Also, Atlanta is home to professional baseball, basketball, football, and hockey, teams, so there are games to attend year-round. There are tons of other places to visit as well, such as the High Museum of Art, Stone Mountain (for those who enjoy hiking), and The Underground for shopping enthusiasts. Unfortunately, it is hard to experience all that Atlanta has to offer without a car, so you will have to wait at least a year to have one because Emory does not allow freshmen to have cars on-campus.
