3 College Junior

Campus Dining: Honestly the best food around is the places off campus in Chinatown or the restaurants just in Boston in general. But it's not always convenient for people living in the residence halls.

2 College Junior

Athletics: No one really cares about our sports teams which is really sad because they're not that bad. Most of the attention is placed on the big intramural sport on campus: Quidditch (of which I am a proud member).

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: It can be stressful trying to find a place off campus when thousands of students from other school are trying to do the exact same thing. But the Off-Campus Student Services Office is really helpful and has workshops on finding the perfect place to live

Health & Safety: I personally don't feel like the campus is as secure as it could be. Part of that is the buildings are all quite old and need updates to be safer, especially in the downtown area of Boston. There have been a streak of gas leaks in some of the older buildings which is quite terrifying.

Campus Strictness: The safety of the buildings is very strict requiring an ID for access to buildings and dormitories. If you break any of the rules on campus it directly affects your standing in sports.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: As long as you don't get yourself and others in danger its great. They are very understanding and if you ever get in a problem, better to fess up as they care more about your safety than anything else. Don't be dumb and so obvious

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: You will not get anything lower than 1000 near campus but there are options around the other surrounding neighborhoods.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Food in the area is great, there are so many options to find around the Boston Commons.

5 College Junior

Academics: Being a film major, the classes aren't too bad. Its what you do in the clubs and on sets that people have that give you the experience for your major. Don't slack off.

4 College Junior

Academics: Just make sure you know your teachers before signing up.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: If one can, live in Piano Row, Colonial, or Little Building (although it has its issues). They are the best of the dorms and are so close to classes.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Boston is a great city for a college student. The only issue is the curfew that the city has with transportation and having shops close

3 College Junior

Nightlife: It's fun once you're 21 but you have options if you know the right places and people.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love Emerson so much! I would not have chosen any other school.

College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have heard that it is amazing, but I am not sure as I have not experienced graduating yet.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: The campus is beautiful and has a lot of amenities, but it will take some exploration to find everything.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: They start you off with a mix of GE's and major requirements as soon as you get there. There is no awkward limbo when waiting for your major specific courses to start.

College Sophomore

Majors: Have not done this yet.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Really you just have to like parties to go to one. If you ask around, you will be able to find a party. We often go to different schools for parties as well.

5 College Sophomore

Academics: I am a film student and our film program is very prestigious. So far I have had a great time.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: I have only taken one class that I could not stand and dropped it. If you are unhappy with any class no one is forcing you to stay in that class. I have loved the other classes I have taken, no matter how much I complain about work.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Applying for housing after freshman year is horrendous, but all of the options are great compared to most schools.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Wouldn't have preferred another school.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: We have different personalities, but not very much representation through culture and ethnicities.

Campus Strictness: Some of the rules are ridiculous, but you can get around them. They won't prevent you from having a good time.

Most students are thrilled with Emerson. From the professors to the production equipment to the classes, many students feel they’re being well-prepared for the real world. At Emerson, students have more internship opportunities, well-known industry professionals as professors, and quality classes than many larger schools. Since Emerson students come with fervor to learn their trade, they end up bolstering each other in workshops and projects. Some students gripe about the long lines and difficulty dealing with the administrative aspects at Emerson, such as the financial aid office and the registrar. These experiences can obscure the positive parts of the educational experience, but most students agree that something very exciting and positive is going on at Emerson, and there are a lot of resources to take advantage of.

Emerson students are matchless in their excitement to learn, create, and get involved in activities that will better them academically and in character. Though it’s common to boo-hoo about the unpredictable weather, the dismal parking and driving situation, and early curfews in Boston, most Emerson students love their temporary home. The chances to work with award-winning faculty are one of a kind, as are the students. Emerson isn’t perfect, but it is a fantastic place for students who are willing to learn and work hard for what they care about. Your time spent at Emerson will certainly not be easily forgotten.
