4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek Life is extremely prevalent on campus. They throw a lot of fundraisers as well as parties. If you are a GDI guy say goodbye to parties though.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: Greek life is a big part of campus, but if it's not for you, there are plenty of other things to get involved with that will be just as big of a commitment.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I am not Greek and I do not plan on "going Greek" during my undergraduate career. Now I don't have anything against Greek fact I think it is probably great fun and helpful. I have many Elon friends who are Greek and they love every bit of it--and I am happy for them! I have just learned and am recently accepting that in this chapter of my life, Greek Life is not for me.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek Life is big commitment but it is also a great way to make new friends and get involved with some great charities. I would suggest giving it a chance!

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life is huge but not everyone is apart of it. They throw the parties and fund basically everything on campus. Non-Greeks are a minority but they are accepted by Greeks (and often get "props" for not being in Greek life). The Greek housing is definitely not impressive compared to other schools but they are nice. People are always wearing their letters.

Elon has what we call “deferred rush,” meaning that you cannot rush a Greek organization until at least the second semester of freshman year. You must also have a minimum GPA of 2.75 for women or a 2.5 for men before rushing. Elon is comprised of 21 Greek organizations, in addition to a variety of Greek honor societies, such as Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Delta Kappa. About 35 percent of Elon students are Greek. Most sophomores live in the Greek housing, which includes a house manager who acts as an RA for the house. Elon prohibits hazing and has severe repercussions for organizations that don’t comply with the standards set by Greek life. You don’t have to be Greek to go to the parties; you just have to be on the guest list for on-campus Greek house parties. All on-campus parties are BYOB, and you must be over 21 to bring alcohol.

A lot of Greeks participate in campus-wide activities, such as Homecoming and intramural sports. They have a ton of spirit; most Greeks are proud of their fraternity/sorority and will speak very highly of Greek life. Even though only about a third of the campus is Greek, they are very dominant, both in everyday life and in leadership positions throughout campus. There is never a day that goes by that you won’t see someone wearing a pin, t-shirt, hat, or bag with his or her letters on it.
