There are some rules that people are strict about. If you are caught drinking on campus, you will be given a citation and fined. Then you have to go in front of the Judiciary Committee and face penalty. You can be dismissed from the university for having too many citations; about two or three. As far as integrity is concerned, if a student is found guilty of an honor code infraction that student generally receives an "F" in the course, which cannot be repeated. Upon the second infraction, the student has a letter sent home and can be dismissed from the University.
Elon takes campus security very seriously. If you are found to be endangering any other students, expect to face consequences from the Judiciary Committee, the local police, or both. Yes, people do get away with drinking on campus, but those who get caught DO get written up; Elon won't close its eyes to any crime problems amongst the student body. Even if you have an open container in a car (whether you're drinking it or not) you can get fined or given community service hours. We have three sets of police around us, so it's not that hard to get caught. Nobody is particularly out to get you in trouble, but they want everyone to be safe; the only way to make sure of that is to enforce certain rules.
