3 College Sophomore

Transportation: The shuttle buses are convenient for students that live in the apartments. Students living on campus do not really need cars. They have downtown Elmhurst, which is within walking distance. As for commuters, parking is always available around campus.

3 College Junior

Transportation: Public Transportation is only available thru the train, the bus comes within 5 blocks but not very convenient for 30lbs of books. The parking isn't enough either. Plus they charge a ridiculous amount for parking when half the time you can't find a spot. They do however offer their own shuttles, but still.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Everything is walking distance! There are free buses that can take you to the mall.

The transportation at Elmhurst is top of the line, yet walking or biking are still the best methods of getting around. The College has a shuttle that goes from the library to the Yorktown Mall and the apartments and runs about every 20 minutes. Since the farthest walk across campus takes only about five minutes, any other short-distance transportation would be pointless.

The long-distance options are limitless. Since the Metra train, which goes into downtown Chicago, is a five-minute walk from the library, students here can literally end up anywhere in the world without getting in a car. O’Hare Airport, the fourth-largest airport in the world, can be accessed off a Metra transfer, and multiple bus services—Greyhound, Megabus—meet in downtown Chicago. You may have to plan your trip beforehand because Chicago does not make transportation simple, but nearly anything you can imagine can be done for a reasonable price. There is no reason to bring a car—it’s a waste of parking permit money.
