4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: You can meet all types of guys and girls. Most of the time, all it takes is walking up to a group of students and introducing yourself. Most guys and girls are very friendly with the exception of a few.

College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: I stay to myself and don't care too much about how people choose to live their life.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: There are some pretty attractive guys and girls.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I'm a girl, so I would say that the guys on campus are very friendly, sometimes too friendly. The typical guys at my school are alright and very sociable.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The guys and girls are 50/50. I love the guy that I met on campus and female friends too but a lot of guys talk to girls for one thing only.

Elizabeth City State University has become very diverse. There are people from extraordinary backgrounds that bring so much knowledge and personality to the University. There really isn't an average student at Elizabeth City State University. Many of the students don't even believe in being "average." The girls all have different attitudes and fierce personalities, while the guys vary from mellow to energetic. It is evident that many of the guys and girls are in fraternities and sororities; they all consider themselves family, supporting each other to the max.

The ratio of guys to girls happens to be a little uneven, with more women than men. However, if someone looked on the left and right side of the sidewalk while passing through ECSU, they would notice quite an even mixture of guys and girls, so the ratio is not very noticeable. Many girls have grown more used to having guys as best friends rather than boyfriends. The students at ECSU would rather be single throughout their college years than to have a boyfriend or girlfriend; well, at least that's what many of them say. Sometimes it is good for more freshmen to focus on their education rather than boys or girls when they first arrive to college. They will have plenty of time for all of that during their upperclassman years.

Social Scene
Many students prefer holding events in the Fine Arts Building. There is plenty of seating and fun for everyone. Another great place to hold social gatherings would be the K.E. White Building; this is where more of the formal gatherings occur. Smaller but still fun places include: the promenade, the student center, the cafeteria, and Williams Hall. The gym is also available for certain events. There aren't many off-campus social scenes in Elizabeth City. Every event requires advertising, and-boy-all of the students advertise! There are a lot of dance shows, modeling shows, poetry nights, singing and rapping concerts, fundraisers, community service, and just plain fun.
Hookups or Relationships?
Relationships don't occur very often with freshmen and sophomores. These two young groups of individuals are just settling in on campus, trying to get used to college life. Most of them would rather explore their options. Once students hit their junior years, serious relationships come into play. Random relationships do not occur very often on campus. Really, not many serious relationships occur, either; most students would rather enjoy the single life.
Dress Code
When walking to class, you may see many students in relaxed clothing or in business attire. It just depends on the classes a student is taking. For instance, if a student is enrolled in a business course, then more than likely you will see that student in business attire; otherwise, he or she will be in relaxed clothing. More social gatherings call for a "dress-to-impress" type of clothing, such as shorter skirts, low-cut tops, and baggy jeans with the latest sneakers.
