4 College Senior

Academics: Not too much, not too little. Most teachers do a good job with teaching and helping us to learn the material.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Academics at this school are not particularly the best. I feel they could be much better. Some professors do what they need to do as far as teaching other than that most of them don't really care in my opinion. I feel like the professors don't necessarily challenge the students. In some classes I feel like I haven't learned much or everything I needed to. When registering for classes not many people were aware that they needed to and I found it hard to be able to find and meet with my advisor. Sometimes they hold study sessions during midterm and finals week and those seem to be helpful as well as tutoring sessions in certain departments. A popular major at ECSU I think is Mass Communications.

Academics: The academics at Elizabeth City State are ok. However it all depends on how much work that you complete. Also if you applied yourself .

3 College Junior

Academics: I am a Chemistry major and I must say it's pretty hard (mainly because Chemistry is hard) but if you have a great work ethic then you'll have no problem with any major you chose.

3 College Junior

Academics: The professors from my experience are veryyy helpful and give a lot of one on one and there are a lot of free tutoring sessions held.

Elizabeth City State University is home of the only four-year aviation science degree program in North Carolina. Students are capable of pursuing careers that deal with air traffic control, flight education, computer science, avionics, electronics, public administration, and aviation management. Elizabeth City State University recently expanded its academics by offering a pharmacy program. The education and psychology school is also expanding by offering new courses students can take along with a new building.

Although the University is expanding, there are not enough teachers to meet the needs of the students, especially when some students require more help than others. There are also not enough core classes offered during the academic school year to help students graduate on time, due to the lack of professors. Throughout the campus, the professors that are available are different and unique, challenging students to think critically, work together, and grow mentally, physically, and emotionally. They provide challenging curriculums, and the workload is quite reasonable.

Online Courses
There are at least two to three courses offered online within every program at Elizabeth City State University. Through Blackboard, there are ways to set up communication with other students by introducing yourself to the class. Assignments are usually required once a week, along with a quiz on the week's reading material, followed by a test the following week. Every assignment and test is submitted through Blackboard; teachers do not allow assignments to be emailed. The professor-student relationship within online classes is not established completely unless the student needs to physically see the professor.
