Overall Experience: Pretty typical spread I think. Some prof's are high and mighty and some are quite down to earth. The professors in my major are the absolute best! Incredibly helpful and intelligent, approachable individuals. Class sizes are awesome. After freshman yr, avg of 25 to a class. Have become a completely different(better) person through Edinboro.

Overall Experience: The internships in the area are very limited as well as career options. The surrounding areas are low population and low income. Decent alumni network, they have a linked in page and are very strong in pittsburgh. Career center is so helpful! They have helped me time and again with resumes, job apps, scholarship apps, etc.

Nightlife: I gave an average rating because I know many people that came from larger/more populated areas and are very disappointed by the night life. I love it though. Each bar has a different feel. I can relax with friends and chat at Fat Willies or go to the Hotel and party.

Athletics: The sports themselves are not highly attended. I myself have never even been to a sporting event. I am very into fitness though and hit the gym regularly. The gym is great but maybe on the small side.

Academics: Love the education. My professors have influenced me for the better. I transferred to edinboro from another state school where I felt like I was just a drowning number. Much happier since the transfer.

4 College Senior

Academics: As a biology student, most of my experience has been with the science faculty. They are impeccable, from the secretaries to tenured professors. (with the possible exception of a specific physics professor I took)

Facilities: Campus is gorgeous. However, always under construction. The majority of my time is spent in the science hall(cooper) and the student center(pogue)- arguably the two nicest buildings on campus, so my opinion is a little biased, but I love the building. Modern and fairly up to date. Aesthetically appealing and convenient.

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is grossly overpriced. Most apartments are filthy and still more expensive than clean apartments I've seen at other state schools.

Greek Life: Greek life isn't a huge social status as seen in different types of media. They throw parties and have some greek only theme mixers. Every once in a while you'll see them fundraising around campus for a philanthropy. But overall, they're overlooked and probably undervalued and subject to prejudice.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: possession of drugs and alcohol in the dorm is prohibited, students who want to get high either find some place hidden or go to clubs.

Health & Safety: the safety on campus is pretty good, hardly any case of violence that i have heard of, they are often cases of theft though. but the cops are always around to assist student, even give night escorts to students who are too scared to walk alone back to their dorms at night.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: they is not much activities going on at night, to party at night one has to go off campus, it is much easier if one drives to allow you get around the city.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: A see a lot of students using prescription drugs to get by.

Campus Dining: There needs to be more allergy friendly options for students.

Health & Safety: There needs to be more awareness of mental health status to college campus.

Greek Life: The image of a Greek chapter ideally depends on what college campus its at and what that chapter values. There are Greek chapters at Penn State Behrend, that solely was around to get insanely intoxicated and have parties, not to mention the certain living arrangements. A few of the Creek chapters at Gannon University have missions and values, even extensive physical image requirements.

Health & Safety: We have a relatively tame campus. I have worked with the police in a professional setting before and they are very helpful and willing to work with you.

Off-Campus Housing: Staying off-campus is definitely cheaper than on-campus. You will not be forced to have a meal plan, but may sign up for one if you wish. Pros include additional responsibility and freedom, learning life skills with navigating your lease, and being financially sound/learning to budget your money. Cons include possible communication gaps between you and roomates if things start going south, gas money to get to campus if you aren't walking, and dealing with a potentially noisy party atmosphere. Make sure you kow what you're getting into when you sign the lease and make sure to shop around for the best deal. Also, get to know your landlord(s). They're people, too! Being on their good side will enable you to be in the know about things that are happening and they may give you special attention if something goes wrong in your apartment.

Weather: Edinboro is in a bubble. It can be 75 and sunny inside, and 40 and snowing around us. You can experience all four seasons in one day. It is part of our geography and where we are located with respect to Lake Erie and the systems we can get from Canada such as Alberta clippers and cold fronts. Be prepared for snow. There will be a LOT of it. But also be prepared for the nice weather, too! If you are sensitive to abrupt weather changes/patters, make sure you have whatever medication you use to combat that. Pollen can be horrible during the spring, as well. Take advantage of the sunshine; there is a lot of wildlife around the lake!

Diversity: Diversity makes Edinboro University thrive. It is a core element of who we are as a community. We have students from dozens of different countries studying here and we also have our own Multicultural office that assists in planning cultural nights and activites. These students are recognized as theyr march with their country flags during commencement, which is an amazing element to the ceremony.

Computers: Make sure you have extra money to up your print quota at the end of the year. You get 150 pages every semester, and if you're going to be in a class with a lot of printing involved, make sure you have that extra money. Network can be iffy at times, but just be patient. The library offers laptops for those who don' thave their own. There are plenty of computers on campus to do work at.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: Many students have the mindset that there is not a lot to do in Edinboro, so the result is the many parties that crop up during the week and weekend.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Some of the the residence halls are relatively new, having been built in the last five years. However, there are many flaws in them since they were built too quickly. I would suggest the "traditional" halls over the newly built Highlands; the Highlands, while pretty-looking, are not community building. You cannot have your doors open and are shutting yourself off from making friends and interacting. I have noticed a lot of first and second-year students lacking social skills due to this. Also, if you plan on living on campus, you will be contracted for the Highlands for two years. Not exactly fun.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: We're not too strict on much. We have the freedom to move around as we can. There is a zero-tolerance policy for many things such as on-campus drinking, but people still find ways around it. In the classroom, it is up to the professor to enforce their attendace and grading policies so long as their align with the university's policies.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Not as generous as nearby Erie. We have four bars (for the over-age crowd), but little else for those that are underage.
