Health & Safety: We have a relatively tame campus. I have worked with the police in a professional setting before and they are very helpful and willing to work with you.

Off-Campus Housing: Staying off-campus is definitely cheaper than on-campus. You will not be forced to have a meal plan, but may sign up for one if you wish. Pros include additional responsibility and freedom, learning life skills with navigating your lease, and being financially sound/learning to budget your money. Cons include possible communication gaps between you and roomates if things start going south, gas money to get to campus if you aren't walking, and dealing with a potentially noisy party atmosphere. Make sure you kow what you're getting into when you sign the lease and make sure to shop around for the best deal. Also, get to know your landlord(s). They're people, too! Being on their good side will enable you to be in the know about things that are happening and they may give you special attention if something goes wrong in your apartment.

Weather: Edinboro is in a bubble. It can be 75 and sunny inside, and 40 and snowing around us. You can experience all four seasons in one day. It is part of our geography and where we are located with respect to Lake Erie and the systems we can get from Canada such as Alberta clippers and cold fronts. Be prepared for snow. There will be a LOT of it. But also be prepared for the nice weather, too! If you are sensitive to abrupt weather changes/patters, make sure you have whatever medication you use to combat that. Pollen can be horrible during the spring, as well. Take advantage of the sunshine; there is a lot of wildlife around the lake!

Diversity: Diversity makes Edinboro University thrive. It is a core element of who we are as a community. We have students from dozens of different countries studying here and we also have our own Multicultural office that assists in planning cultural nights and activites. These students are recognized as theyr march with their country flags during commencement, which is an amazing element to the ceremony.

Computers: Make sure you have extra money to up your print quota at the end of the year. You get 150 pages every semester, and if you're going to be in a class with a lot of printing involved, make sure you have that extra money. Network can be iffy at times, but just be patient. The library offers laptops for those who don' thave their own. There are plenty of computers on campus to do work at.

Drug Safety: Many students have the mindset that there is not a lot to do in Edinboro, so the result is the many parties that crop up during the week and weekend.

Campus Housing: Some of the the residence halls are relatively new, having been built in the last five years. However, there are many flaws in them since they were built too quickly. I would suggest the "traditional" halls over the newly built Highlands; the Highlands, while pretty-looking, are not community building. You cannot have your doors open and are shutting yourself off from making friends and interacting. I have noticed a lot of first and second-year students lacking social skills due to this. Also, if you plan on living on campus, you will be contracted for the Highlands for two years. Not exactly fun.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: We're not too strict on much. We have the freedom to move around as we can. There is a zero-tolerance policy for many things such as on-campus drinking, but people still find ways around it. In the classroom, it is up to the professor to enforce their attendace and grading policies so long as their align with the university's policies.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Not as generous as nearby Erie. We have four bars (for the over-age crowd), but little else for those that are underage.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: My best advice as a grad student is to apply for as many schoalrships as possible. Also, having an assistantship will offset the cost of your attendance, as well as having work-study as an undergrad. I wish I coul dhave been more diligent in applying for the free money that is out there. So for those considering college and grad school, get your hands on everything you can. Six-figures in debt is going to sting a bit when I graduate.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Off-campus dining has a variety of areas to choose from. However, I have seen other campuses be very generous about offering student discounts, or even allowing them to use their meal plans off campus. I hope the school and town can collaborate together to offer discounts/meal equivalencies in the future.

Athletics: As a Div. II school, Edinboro has its perks with some sports (basketball, football, wrestling, swimming, T&F). The students do not really get involved with sports as fans; the events are attended by more community members than students on an average basis. School spirit is very strong during homecoming, but not so much around other times of the year. Over the years, though, there have been more students attending athletic events. With the rise of social media, word gets around faster about impromptu send-offs and 'welcome home' gatherings for those athletes attending national events, and students do attend those. I hope that student involvement continues to grow in the years to come.

Campus Housing: I enjoy living on campus. I have made a few friends since I started living on campus which is great. You will also be right there with everything that's going on in the campus life. The only bad thing is how sensitive the fire detectors are because we have a lot of fire alarms for "burnt popcorn."

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: The school is very open to accepting diversity. We as the students continually get emails of events that are going on to explore the diversity we have on campus and that of the world.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: As long as you file for your financial aid on the deadline the school gives it will go smoothly. I have filled twice now and this time around it was somewhat of a struggle but I managed.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: One off campus housing is right outside of the campus. It is in great walking distance to the campus and and overall nice spot to be. The cost is also lower than if you stayed in an on campus housing until, so you would save there if you chose that option.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The nightlife is okay. They have club meetings usually if you are in one. There's also an option of going to the reck room where you can do a variety of things like rocking climbing and activities along those lines. Then there is the game room in our student center that is usually open.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Most of the dining options off-campus you are able to walk to without going to far from the campus. The best place to check out would be Perkins, which I never knew of until I came here to Edinboro.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather has it's off days and good days. The winter was pretty bad. We only had on cancellation of classes, but if you ask me it should have been more than that. There was so much snow with the ice cold wind and through the winter you just never won. Now that it's spring we have had a few nice days, and then the rest consisting of some snow and a lot, I repeat, a lot of rain.

5 College Sophomore

Transportation: the bus is always running and is great if youre running late to class. and theyll pretty much drop you off where ever you want.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: they are very lenient with people staying over which is good because they shouldnt be able to limit how often people visit or stay over. if you have a mutual agreement with your roommates the RA's shouldnt care. sometimes they arent good with dealing with noise complaints. you often have to complain several times for something to be done.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: there are a few places to go if you want to occasionally mix it up and eat off campus.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: parties are good at certain places, but once you turn 21 the place to be is the bar, so theres no chance of getting busted by the police

4 College Sophomore

Greek Life: they are very excepting of people and dont discriminate against those who choose to rush.

5 College Sophomore

Majors: all of the professors are amazing and know a lot about their particular area of study and teaching.
