2 College Senior

Transportation: I'm honestly not sure about this because i own a car that i use to get to and from campus. There is a shuttle that runs daily on campus to take students where they need to go, but it is on campus only!

College Student

Transportation: I am an online student.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: We have many methods of transportation that are available to us as students to utilize to get to and from campus or around campus. As far as off campus long distance travel goes, I don't really know because I drive myself back home. I do know that many people carpool with each other to get back home on breaks and that we have a lot of international students, so I would assume there is an airport nearby.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Eastern shuttle runs on a schedule that doesn't require students to wait very long.

4 College Sophomore

Transportation: The bus shuttle service is free and pretty much runs 24/7. The only issue is when the route gets behind and it can make you a little late for work.

Transportation at EKU is very affordable. If you want to go anywhere on campus, just jump on a campus shuttle: it’s free. Although many students don’t use this service because they are unsure of the schedule or how to call it, all the information is available on EKU’s Web site and it’s really easy to do. Keep the shuttle number in your phone, and you can call anytime you need a ride during the evening shuttle hours. If you want to go off campus, the public bus is can take you to places like Wal-Mart, restaurants, or shopping destinations. The bus schedule can also be found on EKU’s Web site. Normally students do not take the public bus, but it is very easy and affordable; it costs around $1. If you don’t like buses, cabs are another option. A lot of students use cabs, especially to go out at night. The price varies based on company but is affordable. The base fee is about $5, and the fee increases per mile traveled.

Transportation for long distance travel is a little trickier. There is an airport located in Lexington, but the best option is to drive or have a friend drive you. There is also a Greyhound bus station in Berea, which is only a quick 15- to 20-minute drive. Basically, local transportation is easy with options like walking, shuttles, buses, or cabs. However, long distance travel requires a little bit more investigation and planning.

Did You Know?
Most students see the shuttles running on campus, but not many take advantage of them. The shuttle has a schedule on the EKU Web site, and it can be called in the evening on request. It's a great way to get around campus if you're in a hurry or if you simply don't want to walk because of the weather or the time of day. The shuttle is free to students and can take you anywhere on campus.
