3 College Sophomore

Majors: Getting into the Athletic Training was a hard, long process and required a lot of sacrifice. The most important criteria for admission is just being attentive and doing everything that is required. The program does not have an abnormal application process.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The availability, selection, and cost is good. There is a wide selection from houses to apartments. Some pros include depending on the cost that majority of the time living off campus is cheaper than living in the dorms. Depending on how great of a cook you are the food can be better than dorm food as well. Some cons can be the distance between your residence and campus, but majority of students have a car.

2 College Sophomore

Diversity: There really isn't much diversity. The majority is either Caucasian or African-American. But there are definitely other different ethnic groups on campus. No one is really aware of what economic background you come from. Everyone seems to be pretty accepting of the different religions and ethnic groups on campus.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Campus security is always present. They are there if you need them but not always present to be overbearing. There's always the fear of crime but keeping alert can help you but also security as well.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Hearing about any peer pressure involved with drugs and alcohol is almost non existent. Everyone is pretty friendly. On campus drug use is prohibited but off campus you can pretty find drug use anywhere and it's pretty accessible. There's probably drinking and drug use used everyday, but mostly on weekends.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Everyone usually walks all over campus to get where they need to get to. Houses and apartments hold parties, and people are pretty lenient about letting whoever into their house when they throw a big party. The bars are always filled but having them close at 1 AM is a downer.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek life is pretty big on campus. The only downside to Greek life is that people who are involved with it don't really associate them with people who aren't in it when they go out. People who are involved in Greek life tend to stick around people who are also involved. Non-Greeks usually see Greeks as stuck up or close minded. It really just depends on the view of the person though. The Greek housing available are the chapter houses in Greek court.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: The campus strictness can go either way. If the student does what they are supposed to do then there won't be any issues. If the student gets caught doing something wrong then the disciplinary actions will be put into effect.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Living on campus can sometimes be a hassle. Roommate selection isn't always the best. There is always the factor of having noisy neighbors. Food selection is okay but doesn't always taste the best. The cost is more expensive than living off campus. Hardly anyone on quiet floors leave their door open to interact with each other. The housing process and roommate process can be improved.

Weather: The winter this year has been very brutal, and walking to classes is tough when it's cold. Snow days are rarely called, but nonetheless the weather is manageable.

5 College Freshman

Greek Life: EIU has so many sororities and fraternities! All of which have range of things that they are involved in for the community, so it isn't just a benefit for the student to get career internships, but they also help the community as a whole. I'm not a part of one myself, but I know that they are good to consider.

Off-Campus Dining: Well it is a college town, so there are bars and pizza places galore! All of which are great with discounts and coupons for the poor college kids. Chinese food is available, but the only good place is Magic Wok which is a drive.. not a walk. Healthy eating isn't too big, and will always cost more anyway so I assume the option wouldn't be to useful anyway.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: EIU is huge on embracing diversity! They have so many things available to students to get involved in, from sports to theatre to clubs that specialize in making the community more aware of diversity itself. On top of that, the school has a number of exchange students and students with different ethnic/ religious backgrounds. Overall, I think this school is a wonderful place to feel more comfortable with being yourself because of their ability to accept diversity.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: EIU is in Charleston, IL, which is clearly a college town! It is smaller, but in regards to possibly not having a car yet, this makes it easier to travel around easily. There are tons of food places, little shops, and a video renting place which is rare to find these days. Overall its a likable little town, where it is common to see students walking in groups to places together.

Health & Safety: The EIU campus is a very secure place to live. They make sure to explain the reality of the situations fully, and how to be as safe as possible. They have cameras all around dorms, and police that are constantly doing rounds all over campus. The safety precautions taken are not just a school-week thing, they are 24/7.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The transportation is really nice with the Panther Shuttle and all.

Campus Housing: I have a double as a single and there is a lot going on in this room. I feel like I need less stuff of more space.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: We are in a corn town so there is not a lot going on in the town for food chains.

3 College Freshman

Weather: It is the midwest the summers are fine but once the winter comes it is terrible.

4 College Freshman
