Health & Safety: I have never felt unsafe on campus. There are a lot of buttons that you can push and a police man will come if you feel scared or frightened or would like a ride home. There are always people around walking so you never have to feel like you are alone at any point.

Facilities: There are a lot of places for students to hangout around campus. They have an area where people sit on big steps when it is nice out. There is the library right next to it, where most people go to study or get their work done and use the printers. There are lots of traditions such as having memorials for students who have died in the past. Student hangouts can go from dorm rooms to outside anywhere around campus. Most people go to the gym every day.

Greek Life: Joining a sorority was probably one of the best decisions I ever made. Greek life is always doing something for the school. It is very big at Eastern, and we raise a lot of money for philanthropies. They do a lot of community service, and they have lots of events and competitions that take place throughout the year. Greek students and non-Greek students get along with each other well. There are people who get along with other sororities and fraternities too. There are no stricter rules with being friends with other people, everyone still does their own things. Greek Court is where most of the sorority and fraternity members live their second year of joining a house because it is a requirement. Other than living in the house, people live on off-campus housing with their sisters or brothers.

Campus Strictness: The strictness at school is not bad at all. They care about who you are with and what you are doing, but as long as you are not using illegal substances, there is no way you can possibly get in trouble. It is pretty laid back and I was lucky enough to be friends with my residence assistant. It helped me adjust more to be on my own, and I think now I will be safe to live actually by myself on campus this fall.

Campus Housing: Living on campus is not as bad as people say. My personal experience living on campus has been a lot of fun, and I have met a lot of my long-lasting friends from living in the dorms. The atmosphere is friendly and the cost is not too expensive. The ease of the housing process can take a little bit of time, but I knew I was supposed to be there and I loved every second of it.

Off-Campus Dining: Since I go to a small school, there are not many off-campus dining options. Most people either buy food to make from Walmart, or go to a fast-food place such as Jimmy Johns and McDonalds.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The meal plans are great. They have all different sorts of food to choose from, and different dining halls to go to. They also have dining dollars, which can get a student a more of a variety from fast food places.

Academics: It is really good because Eastern Illinois University is known for Education. There are a lot of other people who have the same interests as me, and we have the same classes together. It is nice to work with people and figure out how to overcome the problems that we will both need to figure out when we are teachers. The workload is a good amount, it is mostly just time consuming. The curriculum is a good one, it usually takes four and a half years to finish just to become a teacher.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: They have an honors college, and they also have other activities or groups that work on how to study, help people out with their school work, or a program that focuses in on what you need to work on and how to accomplish your goals.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The courses are very difficult yet easy. Talking to my teachers helps me a lot when I am having trouble, and most of the teachers have available office hours almost all of the time. The class sizes depend on if it is a lecture or not. Lecture classes are usually about one hundred students, while regular sized classes average from twenty to thirty students. Each class I've had at Eastern has different styles to the way teachers teach.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I am studying to become a teacher and child psychologist, and the staff is very helpful. Being in a sorority, it is nice to know a lot of alumni and network with them in the real world. There are a lot of fairs and people come from all over to see who they would want to work for them. I think the job/internship prospects are ideal to what people expect at college.

Off-Campus Housing: The landlords need to clean up the places better after the summers from the last people who lived in the houses. Otherwise they're pretty nice and clean apartments and houses all around campus and off campus.

Local Atmosphere: There is always something happening on and off campus. It is fun and exciting, yet can be relaxed and easy-going. From meeting new people to shopping at the famous Walmart, there is nothing better than having a close community that is always there for you.
