Nightlife: Questionable Clubs – The nightlife at east carolina is fun on somenights and others not too much.
There are a couple of things that bi

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Every one says E.C.U stands for Everyone Carries an Umbrella. It rains a lot and when it is cold it is usually windy too.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Buses are the way to go, unless you bring your bike. The bus route is extremely convenient and on time, all include air conditioning and recently updated. The campus is fun to bike around. Other activities off campus require a car for the most part.

Computers: The computer labs are nice, I never really see too many people utilizing them. There is definitely a need for a personal computer and printer, the printing service is confusing. Network speed is fine, sometimes glitchy as expected.

Facilities: East Carolina's facilities are updated and well kept. The recreation center is nice as everything else on campus, not state of the art, but gets the job done.

Weather: The weather in Greenville is terrible, it is always raining which for some reason causes the buses to be late.

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus housing selection is great. There are many apartment complexes that benefit student needs. Most of the apartments have their own gym, internet cafes, basketball courts, pools, and tanning. The apartments are usually gated and very safe. All of the apartments have buses that take you to campus and back from classes.

Campus Dining: Easy on the Grease – I like the fact that we have buffet style dining but the quality of the food could be worked on. No wonder some people gain the freshmen 15.

3 College Junior

Computers: Paper Limit – The computer labs are terrible. You can only print off a certain number of pages and most of the time the labs are full of people. The wireless requires you to insert your credintials everytime you get on the internet.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Big Melting Pot – There is a wide assortment of people on campus at ECU. Tons of people from "up North" down here.

3 College Sophomore

Facilities: The new athletic center is great .Newly renovated and not as crowded .Library is excellent and all general campus aesthetics are good.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: The buses are normally on time but sometimes are a bit crowded. Most transportation is free.

2 College Freshman

Parking: For some people, parking sucks for others it's pretty decent. It just depends on what permit you have. All on campus parking is by permit only unless it's after 7:00 pm.

Facilities: General Campus Aesthetics – The overall campus at East Carolina is beautiful. The 2011 fall semester brought Hurricane Irene and her wrath upon the campus causing quite a bit of damage. However, there have been people working hard since then to restore the campus to it's original beauty. Our campus has a modern yet classic feel to it. There's a large grassy area (the mall) in the center of campus. It's beautiful. The grass is very green and luscious. There are many art sculptures scattered about the campus which add to it's aesthetics. The only thing you have to worry about is the squirrels.

Nightlife: Night Life – At night East Carolina offers event, movies, concerts.

Scholarships: The finacial aid process at school is fairly easy.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: Greek Life is very popular. There are plenty of options if one is interested in joining.

Local Atmosphere: The atmosphere is southern, low key quiet. The shopping, and attractions such as activies remains fair.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The process of ECU's financial aid is very time consuming and involves pages upon pages of stuff to fill out. Most of the time my family and I were guessing and hoping we were right. All in all I feel like it could be more user friendly.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: Lively Night Atmosphere – There is not a boring spot on ECU's campus! Anywhere you go there is a performance, speakers, dorm room sports, and you can't forget about downtown Greenville!

4 College Freshman

Facilities: All of the facilities on ECU's campus are extremely up-to-date. The gym has updated equipment, libraries have the newest books, and the general atmosphere on campus is alive and worth the drive!

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: School Spirit – Going to the basketball & football games and half of the room yelling "purple" and the other half responding "gold" its a good feeling.

2 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: The ALE is always on the prowl on the weekends so be careful if your underage drinking because they will get you!

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Rowdy in Dowdy Stadium – Football games are a blast! Were not the greatest but a pretty up there in school spirit!

2 College Freshman

Computers: Computer Labs and Costly Printing – There are some computer labs around campus where you can print for free, but they are kind of hidden. I don't really know where they are. Library you have to pay to print.

The quality and enthusiasm of the professors who care about their students is what attracts and retains students who could have gone to larger and more prestigious schools. Greenville is quite charming and has such good local food that most skeptics love the area, or at least ECU, by the time they graduate. Although the campus police are friendly, ECU is quite strict, perhaps in an effort to downplay the “party school” reputation. The strictness, however, contributes to student safety and helps reduce the drug presence on campus. Alcohol is a problem for some students, and the clubs are tempting, but the counseling center can help students with their problems. ECU’s computer resources are excellent, and the athletic facilities are better than the teams’ records. ECU’s most enjoyable facilities are the green areas, especially because the weather here is so pleasant—crazy, but pleasant.

Whether living on or off campus, students should join organizations to maximize their college involvement and build leadership experience for their resume. With ECU’s diverse student population, new students can easily find an organization, Greek or non-Greek, that is for them. ECU is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of pretty girls anywhere, and the guys are good-looking overall, too. The Southern hospitality creates a welcoming social atmosphere. ECU has been through sports losses and administrative shake-ups in the past, but some of the political damage seems to be getting straightened out. So, as usual, ECU students are optimistic. They will continue to be easy-going, yet serious and balanced, fun-loving learners.
