Transportation: The public transportation is excellent. It's known to be the best system. The buses are driven by students and the routes are varied enough that a student needs only to transfer once or not at all. The buses also run into town to the major shopping plazas. The system also sends out email updates on bus routes, cancellations, and inclement weather situations

Local Atmosphere: Though Greenville, Nc is considered a small town, it has a popular downtown life that fits all types of evenings, family outings to club night. Also there is a wide variety of individual stores of the boutique variety and diners. We're also close to large shopping cities, Durham and Raleigh is where most go if they want to go out of town

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Being near the coast the weather is a bit unpredictable but the school does try to accommodate for inclement weather. So in cases of extreme rain and flash flooding or snow classes are handled accordingly and then cancelled. It rains sporadically sometimes but an umbrella should always be close

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many places to eat off-campus. There is Carolina Ale house, Texas roadhouse, logans, five guys, olive garden, McAlisters, Chilis and plenty more.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: The student life at ECU can't be beat. There are friends everywhere, plenty of places to eat and hangout, an amazing gym, and many many activities always happening.

Computers: The computer labs are excellent in class buildings and the library. The library has a lot of very nice computers such as apple and new dell computers.

3 College Freshman

Majors: There were no issues getting into my major. I simply spoke to my advisor and told her I wanted to switch programs and she put it in her computer.

3 College Freshman

Majors: I do not enjoy my program just because it seems like everyone chooses it as a major just because. Most students in the classes arent even interested in politics, nor are the teachers

3 College Freshman

Academics: Very large group of political science majors here so it's fairly easy to find students with similar interests and clubs.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Professors are subpar. Some overqualified, some don't care either way. Most have very strong political views. It's easy to figure out which classes are easy As. Most are, popular study areas include communications, teaching studies, fashion merch, business and political science.

Majors: I have not had an internship. it's easy to find jobs in Greenville though.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Teachers somewhat know what they're talking about but most students just don't care. Rarely come to class and if they do for the most part theyve been drinking or theyre hungover.

5 College Junior

Scholarships: I have never had a problem with the financial aid process. I have been able to receive aid every year and am always satisfied with the award amount.

Health & Safety: On campus safety is good for the most part, but I would suggest walking in groups at night. Unfortunately, students who live just off campus are more vulnerable to robberies and assaults. The school is right in the middle of a neighborhood, so one has to take that in mind.

Off-Campus Housing: There are more than enough apartments in the area, due to the amount of college students. The prices vary which are good for those who have limited finances. However, the closer to campus you are, the more noise and possible robbery targets you may become. Overall, I had no problem finding a nice and affordable apartment.

Drug Safety: Since I live off campus I don't know much about the drug scene. However, I do know there are parties and I know alcohol is definitely used.

Local Atmosphere: Greenviile is your typical college town. While there are plenty of Restaurants, shopping is limited and a bigger mall needs to be built. Also, the parking on campus is ridiculous, especially for commuting graduate students. I've only been here a year and there have been more than several robberies close to campus. Otherwise it's a good school.

Campus Dining: The food is AMAZING! First off, we have two different dining halls and a student rec center that has panda express, chilis, starbucks and more! A place I love to eat is Sup Dogs, which is right in downtown directly behind campus. It's a cool hotdog/burger place and they have their specialty Sup Dog Sauce which is good on absolutely anything!

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Our school has many programs when it comes to the safety of drugs and alcohol on campus. It really just depends who you hangout with and who you're seen with.

5 College Freshman

Nightlife: Downtown Greenville is right next to campus so everything is walking distance from your dorm!

5 College Freshman

Weather: It's always so nice and warm there, the suns always out and campus is beautiful.

4 College Junior

Campus Dining: i honestly have know issue with the on campus dining options on campus, they keep the choice very broad but diverse in order to please everyone.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: I dont see too much of an issue with the off-campus dining options but I do believe and feel we could definitely have a more variety of healthy food eating places, or at least places that allow you to manage and keep count of the calories you're taking in, such as chipotle.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Based on my experience and ECU it is quite exceptionally diverse.

Greek Life: Greek Life is for the pricks of campus. Most of the members act to a higher standard but have no true place in the group. I think greek life is a waste of time.

The quality and enthusiasm of the professors who care about their students is what attracts and retains students who could have gone to larger and more prestigious schools. Greenville is quite charming and has such good local food that most skeptics love the area, or at least ECU, by the time they graduate. Although the campus police are friendly, ECU is quite strict, perhaps in an effort to downplay the “party school” reputation. The strictness, however, contributes to student safety and helps reduce the drug presence on campus. Alcohol is a problem for some students, and the clubs are tempting, but the counseling center can help students with their problems. ECU’s computer resources are excellent, and the athletic facilities are better than the teams’ records. ECU’s most enjoyable facilities are the green areas, especially because the weather here is so pleasant—crazy, but pleasant.

Whether living on or off campus, students should join organizations to maximize their college involvement and build leadership experience for their resume. With ECU’s diverse student population, new students can easily find an organization, Greek or non-Greek, that is for them. ECU is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of pretty girls anywhere, and the guys are good-looking overall, too. The Southern hospitality creates a welcoming social atmosphere. ECU has been through sports losses and administrative shake-ups in the past, but some of the political damage seems to be getting straightened out. So, as usual, ECU students are optimistic. They will continue to be easy-going, yet serious and balanced, fun-loving learners.
