Computers: I always had to go to the library and wait to use the computers because the labs were typically full.

Greek Life: I was a non traditional student so other than seeing banners about events around campus, I never attended any.

Drug Safety: Average.. If someone is going to do drugs they will find a way to get them just like anywhere else

Transportation: If you live on campus there is no need for a car. But if you live in an apartment, a car is the only way to get around other than a bus to campus. Greenville is a college town so it is relitivly small and it takes a maximum of 20 to go anywhere in town.

Nightlife: ECU is famous for its nightlife. Lots of clubs and bars. But drinking downtown is strictly for 21+. There are lots of house parties and frat parties. ECU offers a "drunk bus" that goes downtown on the weekends. Halloween is the best week of the entire year.. All of downtown is locked down by police enforcement to make sure everyone stays safe it is the busiest time of the year also.

Computers: Computer labs offer free printing and are usually very accessible except during final exams week. And same goes for the library

Off-Campus Housing: There's no doubt anyone can find a place to stay off ECU's campus, however there's no guarantees it will be top notch quality.

Computers: There is a pretty good variety of PC and Mac computers, as well as somewhat current software.

Health & Safety: Personally, I have never felt unsafe at ECU, however, I am constantly getting ECU alerts informing me of burglaries, shots fired, etc.

Greek Life: Although Greek life seems to be a huge determinant of social status at ECU, those in fraternities/sororities still socialize with those not associated with Greek life. Of course it depends on the individual, however. Fraternity and sorority posters can be seen all over campus at any given time, but their impact on the community? Not so sure I can say I've ever actually seen.

Campus Dining: Dinning halls are great for people who like to eat a lot. There are varieties however for a vegetarian it is kind of difficult to have a good meal. Not many items are vegetarian and it gets kind of boring eating the same thing over and over again.

Off-Campus Housing: There are great safe locations for students to live. They are also in a 5 to 10 mile radius of the school and are newly renovated. Prices are great and they also give great deals if you choose to sign a lease.

Transportation: Campus shuttles run everywhere. They can take you to various different location on and off campus. Very convenient if you want to go grocery shopping or need to get to class and you live off campus. Runs through most of the off campus housing and is on time half of the times. There is also safe ride in case it is too late at night and you need to get to a certain location on campus.

Parking: Finding a parking spot around campus is very difficult if you do not have a parking pass and even with a pass you still have to park a mile away.

Weather: Weather is not that bad. The only time classes are cancelled is when there is snow or a hurricane rolls through, which is not that often. I always carry an umbrella with me in my book bad just in case there is a little shower. Usually there is nice weather in eastern north carolina.

3 College Junior

Parking: If you buy a parking pass, you will be okay for finding a parking spot. However, if you do not have a parking pass and you are parked inappropriately you will be fined and possibly towed. Costs for parking passes are reasonable compared to other universities.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: There are plenty of options to live at. There are plenty of dorms, student apartments, and apartments close to campus. Everyone is very sociable at all these places and the prices are reasonable.

Local Atmosphere: Greenville is a small town. There are a couple of attractions including a couple movie theatres, an ice rink, the mall, kayaking, and bike routes. The most exciting thing about East Carolina University is foot ball season where you can enjoy the spirit of pirates. There is no other atmosphere when it comes to the fans of pirate foot ball.

Facilities: The facilities on campus are modern and up to date. The green spaces are well kept and a place where a lit of students hangout. There is plenty to do on campus such as bowling, billiards, clubs, and going to the recreational center.

Campus Housing: The dorms at ECU are great & the off campus apartments.

Computers: ECU provides several computer labs in dorms and academic buildings. Printing is free and there are kiosks for printing in an academic building without going in to a lab. ECU also provides internet for students who only needs to download the schools internet security program. The school is quick to send out updates on availability and down systems. WiFi is also available throughout the whole campus

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of restaurants that are just off campus the cater to students and sometimes made just for the students ie. Sup Dogs. But like any college, the further away from it, the less deals and convenience for the student.

The quality and enthusiasm of the professors who care about their students is what attracts and retains students who could have gone to larger and more prestigious schools. Greenville is quite charming and has such good local food that most skeptics love the area, or at least ECU, by the time they graduate. Although the campus police are friendly, ECU is quite strict, perhaps in an effort to downplay the “party school” reputation. The strictness, however, contributes to student safety and helps reduce the drug presence on campus. Alcohol is a problem for some students, and the clubs are tempting, but the counseling center can help students with their problems. ECU’s computer resources are excellent, and the athletic facilities are better than the teams’ records. ECU’s most enjoyable facilities are the green areas, especially because the weather here is so pleasant—crazy, but pleasant.

Whether living on or off campus, students should join organizations to maximize their college involvement and build leadership experience for their resume. With ECU’s diverse student population, new students can easily find an organization, Greek or non-Greek, that is for them. ECU is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of pretty girls anywhere, and the guys are good-looking overall, too. The Southern hospitality creates a welcoming social atmosphere. ECU has been through sports losses and administrative shake-ups in the past, but some of the political damage seems to be getting straightened out. So, as usual, ECU students are optimistic. They will continue to be easy-going, yet serious and balanced, fun-loving learners.
