Parking: its hard to find a spot and for games some have to move their cars even though it is the right lot to park in.

Guys & Girls: people are really friendly, you meet someone new all the time. people dress normally, just do what they want.

3 College Freshman

Greek Life: there is a variety here. it is mainly a social aspect of campus where they may do community things, but known for their parties especially fraternities.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: it is free. and usually on time. takes you where you need especially around campus.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: it was a little hard to figure out, but most of the time the people were helpful.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Most majors just have GPA requirements that you'll have to meet.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: Drinking in the dorms is strictly prohibited and you will get kicked out if you get caught. Most people don't get caught though. We have ABC officers who give out a lot of underage drinking tickets downtown.

3 College Senior

Athletics: The gym has been upgraded recently and the stadium has been too.

4 College Senior

Nightlife: Downtown is within walking distance to campus and all the apartment complexes have drunk buses that run Thursday thru Saturday.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: There aren't a lot of apartment complexes that are within walking distance to campus. The grid is where students live in houses but there are a lot of break in's and robberies there.

1 College Senior

Parking: There are rarely any metered parking spots open on campus and you have to have a parking permit to park anywhere else. Parking permits are based on faculty and student status.

4 College Senior

Greek Life: Greeks and non-greeks interact pretty often here at ECU. Most greeks have friends that are non-greeks, so it's not a big deal if you don't rush.

4 College Senior

Transportation: You can usually find someone to ride home with which is what I did my freshman year.

4 College Senior

Computers: Students can check out laptops from the library to use within the library. Each student gets a printing allowance at the library to print. There are also multiple computer labs on campus where students can print for free. The only difficult thing is if you need to make copies, your print money does not allow you to make copies.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Living on campus was fun and I wish I had lived there for another year after my freshman year. It's just nice to know that people are looking out for you. The dorms at ECU are pretty new. They are building two new ones this year. I know most people get their first housing choice and you can always transfer rooms whenever you feel you need to. They want you to be comfortable and happy with your roommate.

Computers: The computer labs are very useful. Printing on campus is free. There is usually an open computer in the computer lab. Also if you are having a problem with your personal computer, you could take it to the tech support and they will fix the problem for you.

Drug Safety: You will see a lot of people drinking. ECU enforces the rules very strict with the undercover ALE.

The quality and enthusiasm of the professors who care about their students is what attracts and retains students who could have gone to larger and more prestigious schools. Greenville is quite charming and has such good local food that most skeptics love the area, or at least ECU, by the time they graduate. Although the campus police are friendly, ECU is quite strict, perhaps in an effort to downplay the “party school” reputation. The strictness, however, contributes to student safety and helps reduce the drug presence on campus. Alcohol is a problem for some students, and the clubs are tempting, but the counseling center can help students with their problems. ECU’s computer resources are excellent, and the athletic facilities are better than the teams’ records. ECU’s most enjoyable facilities are the green areas, especially because the weather here is so pleasant—crazy, but pleasant.

Whether living on or off campus, students should join organizations to maximize their college involvement and build leadership experience for their resume. With ECU’s diverse student population, new students can easily find an organization, Greek or non-Greek, that is for them. ECU is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of pretty girls anywhere, and the guys are good-looking overall, too. The Southern hospitality creates a welcoming social atmosphere. ECU has been through sports losses and administrative shake-ups in the past, but some of the political damage seems to be getting straightened out. So, as usual, ECU students are optimistic. They will continue to be easy-going, yet serious and balanced, fun-loving learners.
