3 College Senior

Weather: Rain is pretty much standard and everyone carries an umbrella. Snow/ice tends to shut campus down, but we're in the south so this is standard.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: The only issue with campus strictness is the policy of visitors in dorms. It's ridiculous.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: Occasionally it seems like the health center is passing you along, but the facility is beautiful. Campus could do with more lights. At night, because of the lack of lights and off-campus crime, I do not feel safe walking alone.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: The options for off-campus dining is pretty standard. There is a good variety of cuisine, but I would say most restaurants' food is typical of anywhere else.

5 College Senior

Athletics: ECU has the best school spirit and all athletic events demonstrate this. Arrgghh!

5 College Senior

Transportation: Our ECU buses make it super easy and convenient to get to campus and around the community.

Greek Life: Though I am not a member of any Greek organization, I have friends who are. Greek life creates a great sense of community among its members.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I have only had experience with receiving funding from the North Carolina Teaching Fellow Program, but every semester I have received my funds without issue.

Campus Housing: Though I prefer to live off-campus, campus housing provides a great service to first-year college students.

Nightlife: fun time, and a lot of cops so you feel safe

Campus Housing: I like the freedom of the dorms, the RAs are all nice but never too strict

Majors: I like my program, but there is no on asking me what I want to do with my degree.

4 College Freshman

Majors: getting in was not that bad, as long as you study hard you can pretty much do any major

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: the police never seem to be around campus during weeknights, but only present on the weekends

3 College Freshman

Weather: sometimes it rains without warning, but definitely warmer than the north

4 College Freshman

Transportation: the bus system is great but the safe ride is not reliable and not that useful

3 College Freshman

Computers: the printing is nice but there needs to be more wifi throughout the campus

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: its not that big of a problem but I do notice people talking about it occasionally

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: seems to be okay on pricing, but the locations are not that great at it seems there is no ecu police off campus

Campus Strictness: The authorities are not that strict here. People do what they want. As long as they don't bother anyone else.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Living on campus is great. College Hill is the worst place, in my opinion, to live because it is so far away from everything, except the football field. West end looks like the friendliest and most close together place to stay.

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of options for food off campus, and prices are pretty decent too. I haven't heard of any student discounts though.

2 College Freshman

Weather: This weather is so BIPOLAR. One day it is so hot and the next it is snowing.

2 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There's not much to do off campus. I assume that's why so many people go to the club. That is the only thing to do for fun around here.

The quality and enthusiasm of the professors who care about their students is what attracts and retains students who could have gone to larger and more prestigious schools. Greenville is quite charming and has such good local food that most skeptics love the area, or at least ECU, by the time they graduate. Although the campus police are friendly, ECU is quite strict, perhaps in an effort to downplay the “party school” reputation. The strictness, however, contributes to student safety and helps reduce the drug presence on campus. Alcohol is a problem for some students, and the clubs are tempting, but the counseling center can help students with their problems. ECU’s computer resources are excellent, and the athletic facilities are better than the teams’ records. ECU’s most enjoyable facilities are the green areas, especially because the weather here is so pleasant—crazy, but pleasant.

Whether living on or off campus, students should join organizations to maximize their college involvement and build leadership experience for their resume. With ECU’s diverse student population, new students can easily find an organization, Greek or non-Greek, that is for them. ECU is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of pretty girls anywhere, and the guys are good-looking overall, too. The Southern hospitality creates a welcoming social atmosphere. ECU has been through sports losses and administrative shake-ups in the past, but some of the political damage seems to be getting straightened out. So, as usual, ECU students are optimistic. They will continue to be easy-going, yet serious and balanced, fun-loving learners.
