If all else fails, you go to Dordt to get married. For girls, a joke goes around campus about them being at Dordt to get their "Mrs. Degree," meaning their ultimate goal of college is to get married. Not everyone leaves Dordt engaged or married, but the College is known to have a high engagement rate. You'll hear fellow students talk about how their parents met at Dordt. You'll also hear the phrase "senior scramble," which is the last-minute, desperate attempt seniors sometimes make in order to find their significant others before they graduate and go through life (supposedly) alone.
It's not quite that dramatic, but relationships are kind of a big deal in the Dordt community. Who you're dating often determines your social circles. There's a lot of pressure to be in a serious relationship. Casual dating is not all that common. Either you're dating someone with the possibility of marriage in mind or you're hooking up and staying completely detached.
