4 College Sophomore

Computers: The labs and computers in them are very easy to use and very accessible, and it is very convinient to print right in the labs.

4 Recent Alumnus

Computers: A fair amount of computer labs, but there must be a lot of students without their own computer, because they're always full.

3 College Freshman

Computers: Almost everyone has a laptop. But if you don't, you just take notes the old fashion way. There are computers in each of the residence halls, the library, and the classroom buildings if students need them.

3 College Senior

Computers: Although the campus is not overflowing with computers, there are labs in almost every building, including dorm buildings. There is rarely a situation without access to computers, except in the library in crunch times. The computers are updated regularly and seem to have quality maintenance.

3 College Freshman

Computers: They're ok. Not always the fastest computers every but they get the job done.

Most students take a laptop with them to the College because of its convenience. Also, the wireless Internet at Dordt is accessible in any building on campus. However, sometimes the network connection can be a little unreliable. Everyone, including students and professors, heavily rely on the use of e-mail and the Internet in general. Quite a few professors will set up an online forum for additional class discussion on topics. Assignments can also be found online for most courses, so it is crucial for you to have access to a computer.

One major asset that has recently been added to the College is the new media lab, which features 16 PCs and 10 Macs. Some of the best computers on campus are in the media lab, with more software programs on these computers to accommodate the students involved with digital media. For that reason, the media lab is reserved only for those students to use. The computers in the other labs are substandard; they will give you the tools you need to access the Internet and write a paper, but beyond that, they’re nothing fancy.
