3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There are a lot of apartments available off campus. However not all of them are in great shape and they are all mainly owned through one landlord that isn't the best to get ahold of. Also the housing is a little overpriced.

Academics: Doane is the best education program in the state if you ask me! They really make sure you are prepared. The enrollment application is very simple and easy to access. We have a great science and math building that includes labs and a greenhouse. Doane is also famous for our plays and choir teams.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: It is very expensive to live on campus but I do love it because I am with my peers. However the quality of food is not very well and sometimes the maintenance is poor. Such has how often bathroom are cleaned. The quads should have been remodeled years ago.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I always feel safe and taken care of when I am on campus. I don't think twice about it.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I play soccer at Doane. Although we don't usually draw a big crowd but when we have big games a decent amount of students will show up. Football is Doane's sport. We always sellout and you can always find students wearing a Doane athletic shirt. There nothing like Saturday game day! All students support athletics very well.

3 College Junior

Weather: Its Nebraska, the weather is always unpredictable!

2 College Junior

Scholarships: I struggle every year on whether or not I can attend Doane. Doane has limited scholarships and sometimes there are not a lot online either. I know several students who cannot attend Doane the following year because they can't find the financial aid.

5 College Junior

Greek Life: I am Greek and I love it! Best decision I made. It helped me meet new people and it also put me with like minded students who help me with school work and encourage me to be a leader.

2 College Junior

Diversity: Most of the students that come to Doane are from small towns in Nebraska. Nebraska as whole is not very diverse so naturally little Doane college is not as well. I do try to surround myself with as many diverse students as I can.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are about 6 different "fast food" restaurants you can eat at. Most close by nine and its only the few places unless you are in the mood for authentic Mexican food which is relatively cheap.

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Doane used to be known as kind of a party school but Doane security has really been coming down on, on campus parties to ensure students safety.

4 College Junior

Majors: The program I am in is extremely challenging at my college but I love it. I know that going through all this hard work now and will make me the best teacher I a can be. I would not go through it again because that means I wouldn't be able to start teaching full time. I cannot wait to have my own classroom. After I graduate with my bachelors, I plan on teaching and getting my masters right away.

4 College Junior

Majors: I love being in the education at Doane. I am in class with mostly the same students so sharing your thoughts and ideas is very encouraged. We get to role play often and talk about how we would handle the situation in class. We also are required to take technologies classes to teach us how to use it in our classroom. We start practicum as a sophomore which gives you lots of experience by your senior year. It also gives you a taste of what you want to do. Doane offers lots of tutoring jobs as well.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Almost all of the off-campus housing is filled. And it's REALLY hard to get the chance to do it anyway. Campus works extremely hard to keep students living in the dorms. It's pretty ridiculous.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Campus is in a tiny town, so I really don't blame them for the lack of options. If you drive to the next town there are plenty of options, though.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I was lucky enough to get put into one of the nicest dorms on campus, so I love it. I've heard of a few issues in other dorms, but over all, the entire campus is really nice dorm-wise. I love living on campus.

3 College Freshman

Computers: The labs are pretty nice, but it really bothers me that we have a limited paper supply to print on and have to pay for extra. It's ridiculous. Education and music students have to print out a lot. So we have to find ways around printing off our accounts.

3 College Sophomore

Computers: I occasionally get on my computer, but for the most part I don't have any problems with my computer or connection on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: We have a good mix of race, religion, sexual orientation, peoples with different physical abilities. Doane is truly a melting pot.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Honestly the hard part was choosing a major. There are so many great programs that it was hard to just choose one.

College Sophomore

Majors: I have not had an internship here, but from what I here they are a great learning experience.

3 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: I come from a town twice the size of the town I'm currently living in now. I'm discovering myself, so I do not know where the wind will take me, but I can see myself in this town.

College Sophomore

Parking: I'm an out of stater so I don't really drive. The only time I do is whenever I'm DDing or need to go to the doctor. It's then I get lucky finding a close enough spot to my quad.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: At times they can be a bit of a nuisance, but they are here to help. Honestly I am a bigger gentleman so I'm not to worried about walking across campus, but for the most part it's a safe environment.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I came here as a football player, but I am finding who I am as an artist and a thespian.

A 450-seat dining hall was included in the basement, where students ate their meals (until the campus center was built). Frees is now a coed residence, and it underwent major renovations during the summer of 2009.
