4 College Junior

Academics: DSU has a unique CPA experience program designed for accounting majors.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I always get denied and have to appeal the decision, which has always been reversed so far.

2 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: The cost of living is bad. I pay $2,100/month for a 2 bedroom house and that is normal for a non-homeowner these days because of the oil boom in North Dakota.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: It honestly is pretty much perfect. We are treated very fairly as adults and its very progressive here.

5 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I've never actually seen anyone on my campus talk of or use any drugs. I'm not completely sure it doesn't happen, but my peers are mostly outstanding citizens.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Very simple process but you only get what will get you through on a strict ramen diet

College Senior

Scholarships: This is the first time I have ever applied for scholarships, so far the application process are ok.

3 College Senior

Weather: Its ND so it snows in the winter and get quite cold. It also reaches extremes in the summer of over 100 degrees. The rest of the time Sep-Nov and April-June the weather is quite nice and I enjoy being outside.

College Senior

Campus Housing: I do not live on campus, I am married and live in a house we rent.

5 College Senior

Facilities: This is the third collage I have attended and the student advisors are so far the best, the work very hard to keep you in school and help you graduate.

1 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The main reason that off-campus housing is graded so low is due to the recent influx of people to the western part of ND associated with the oil boom. Rent has gone up and places to live have become unavailble.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I would say that the drug scene is not really that prevalent at this school. The only drug used would be marijuana and people tend to keep that pretty quiet.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: There are a few bars that many of the students over 21 go to on a Friday or Saturday night. I would say that a majority of the partying though is done at houses with maybe about 20 friends or so. However, there are bigger parties every now and then which are fun and you get to meet people.

4 College Junior

Diversity: DSU does a good job of bringing in a diverse group of students. North Dakota is comprised of mostly white (non-hispanic) people, but DSU has a lot of foreign exchange students and students from other states.

5 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: my school is a multi-cultural school with people from all over the continents; Africa, Asia, Australia, North America....

1 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Drug Policy – Because of the alcohol and drug policy no student is seen with any form of drug or alcohol on school ground

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: General View on Both Girls and Boys – they all have one interest, which is partying . most of them are into sports. the put on trendy shoes and the ladies love shopping

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Oil Fields – This is a great question for this day in age for Dickinson, ND. Everything is changing drastically. They have been hit by oil in the last few years and it had grown tremendously. Everyone I've talked to that knew Dickinson before the oil hit, say it was definitely a change for the worst. There are becoming more and more rapes and murders occur there than there ever have before. It is a good thing for the town because of all the money it is bringing in to the area. Safety is a major issue in Dickinson. I still go shopping and do all the fun things I would normally do, but I definitely don't do it alone.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Smoking was something Dickinson State University was trying to become more strict on while I was there last year. I believe it was their first year of actually being a smoke free campus. They tried to be strict on it, but like anything, it is kind of hard to control. I lived in a dorm on the outskirts of campus and students would go behind there and smoke. If they were caught, they were really strict with them, but it was hard to catch them.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: The students at Dickinson State University are very diverse, to say the least. There are people of all kinds there! There is a group of jocks of course, along with many others, and there are people from many different countries. The girls are your typical girls. They are fun and flirty. Some are athletic, others are everything but athletic. I would say overall, the girls are great and the guys are great and we mix really well!

5 College Junior

Parking: Parking permits are only $30 and there is always adequate and convenient parking.

4 College Junior

Transportation: Small Campus – The campus is small so walking or biking is the best option. It's a great way to save money on other means of transportation and is also very green.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: DSU recruits athletes mostly from WestCoast. The basketball team core is almost from California. The track team consists of athletes from Phoenix, AZ. Games are not really exciting though. Plus they occur rarely, like 3 times per semester.
