For some reason, Dickinson seems to have a much more prominent Greek life than similiar schools, and it often feels as though almost every other person you see walking around campus is wearing something with Greek letters on it. This might be because the Greek community is basically the heart of the party scene and dominates social life on campus. Thus, is not uncommon for students who are not Greek to feel bitter about the Greek scene as a whole. But, it is generally understood by those who are involved in the Greek scene that it is not for everyone, and non-Greeks aren’t particularly shunned from Greek social events and parties. Greek life, while it is big at Dickinson, is not the whole community, and there are many students who opt not to partake in it. Guys make this decision in the spring of their freshman year, while girls must wait to rush until the fall of their sophomore year.

A lot of students choose to become a member of a Greek organization because it is a great way to meet people and become involved on campus. Choosing to be part of a Greek society is really at the discretion if the individual and a matter of personal preference.
