1 College Freshman

Weather: It's cold all the time, but it looks beautiful during fall and sumer. The rest of the year is grey and cold.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Well, I've lived in Ohio all my life so I don't know anything different and I'm used to it. It's ok, as usual.

3 College Freshman

Weather: The weather in unpredictable in the morning it can be sunny, you go to one class and come out and it seems like its about to rain.

3 College Senior

Weather: I'm an Ohioan so I'm used to the weather. Ohio weather is completely unpredictable and the phrase "if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes" applies here. It is very hot in the summers and cold in the winters, with plenty of rain in the spring.

3 College Junior

Weather: In the fall, the views on campus and of the surrounding area are breathtaking. During this time there is also a lot of rain, unfortunately. The winters are cold and seem to last a while, but luckily the walk from any residence hall is not too far. During the spring students are always found outside relaxing, doing homework, or playing casual football or frisbee.

The bottom line about weather is that there are four seasons, and you need to be prepared for all of them. It is not uncommon to wake up to freezing weather and then have it be sunny and warm by noon. Most of the time, you do not really know how to dress for the weather, and it helps to layer your clothes when it does get hot. It also rains—a lot. Definitely invest in rain boots, a rain jacket, and an umbrella before you come to Denison. When you first arrive to campus, it will be uncomfortably hot. The dorms are not air-conditioned, so you should bring a fan and appropriate clothing. In a few months, it will get extremely rainy and cold. Ice is very common in the winter, and it can get dangerous. Years ago, Denison had an "ice day" because the walk to class was too icy. While it does snow, Denison is outside of the snow belt, so you won't be up to your knees in it all winter. Still, it becomes a hassle to walk to class when it is snowy and cold. The weather is just temperate enough that sometimes we get winter rain instead of snow. The weather at Denison is considered perfect in the fall, when the leaves are changing and Denison's campus is the most beautiful. The weather is also beautiful in the spring, but it does rain, so make sure you bring apparel for rain! Rain is extremely unexpected, and you never know when you will need it.
