Student Author OverviewWhat's This?
Nightlife at Denison is almost always on campus. The way nightlife works is that every weekend (or Wednesdays, a big party night for Denisonians) a fraternity or sports team will throw a party in their apartment. These parties usually have a lot of alcohol and end up becoming sweaty grind fests. One way to enhance your nightlife is definitely by joining Greek life. Frats and sororities have bar parties and formals off campus, and they are a great way to experience new nightlife, meet lots of people, and have fun. A lot of parties are in "the Sunnies" (the senior apartments), but there are also some in the East Quad suites. Parties are generally not exclusive, and everyone is always welcomed to come. Students at Denison are just down to have fun, and if you are, too, you will have no problem finding a place to party and people to party with. After recruitment in the spring, however, the sorority and fraternity parties become more exclusive and harder to get into.
Your nightlife experience gets significantly better when you turn 21, since you can go to the bar. Although there are clubs in Columbus, most students settle for the one bar in downtown Granville: Brews! It's an overwhelming favorite with seniors, since you can walk there from campus—but if you're under 21, you won't be allowed in—seriously. Fakes are easily taken away, and upperclassmen usually do not tolerate having underage students at the bar. It is a rite of passage to go to the bar, and every student must wait their turn. For those who prefer not to drink or those under 21, parties thrown by campus organizations, like Homecoming or D-Day, are always fun!
